I noticed in the ad on the back page of the newsletter, that the canisters had vinyl hoses. I have only seen woven hoses on these machines. Think they changed over during the production, and what was the initial hose?

Rick

My Mom bought that exact machine with the vinyl hose.  I have the same machine, only with the woven green hose.  The braided hose was earlier, and the vinyl later in the production.  I'll get down and take a picture later.

Fred...

The vinyl hose was used on the VERY first c7 machines, soon after they went to the braided hose, the c3 and c4 as well as Roll Easy were vinyl also, why they went to a braided hose is not known.

This is very interesting, and may be another example of a manufacturer offering what was available to them at the time of production. Perhaps it was a more cost effective deal from a supplier, or a purchase of unused stock. This conversation has come up before with other brands.

Don't most people find that braided hoses offered with GE's tended to last longer then some other brands? I've got a couple of hoses that went with GE's and found the hoses to still be air-tight and flexible even today - when say, an Electrolux (for example) hose gave up the ghost years ago.

Yes..

They, as a rule hold up well, but to me the cloth braid hoses of a Compact or Jet 99 are the best.As well as the old Royal and MH hoses!
