Front bearing replacement on older metal Royal Uprights

Hey Guys!


Has anyone ever serviced an older Royal metal upright as far as replacing or re-greasing the front bearing/plate?  I have a  611 commercial model that is screaming. I have no idea what is behind that fan-whether or not the bearing can be re-greased, or replaced providing the correct bearing is still available.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

usually the front bearings on these are non servicable. In the rare case that yours has a sleeve bearing in the front, it will have either and oil cap or screw. If you remove the screw, you will realize it screws onto a hollow pipe.

If your front bearing isnt serviceable, I personally would at leasst take the fan off and apply oil to the bearing behind it. Always use 3-in-1 MOTOR oil. Blue, not black logo. The standard 3-in-1 will ruin it and NEVER use WD-40 to lubricate anything with bearings

May I ask you what the serial # is on your 611, and also for pictures of your machine, so I can find out exactly how old it is and what bearings you need for it?

According to the source in the link below, most rear bearings are no longer available for many of the older models (in particular, the 3 amp and 4.5 amp models).

The 611 was in production from the early '70s through 1987. In late February 1985, the all-rounded fan case was replaced by a partially-angled fan case.
