I went to a local auction last nite where there were several vacuums, these 2 Kenmore Progressives are the ones I picked up, The Red which is about 2 years old I gave a whopping $2.00 for it! The newer Blueberry colored one I gave $20 for it. The red is missing the  pet powermate and extension wand.

The blueberry is missing only the powerhead.  Both run very well!

They both seem to be well made, the blueberry has improvements over the red being newer. The pet powermate is an awful like the sidekick II.

The handle grip still has the on/off for the main canister plus the on/off for the powerhead and  a slide for reducing power but the new now has the dusting brush and crevise tools on it. The dusting brush is removable, it has a collar that covers the bristles when your not using it.

I haven't seen those tools yet. The combo brush on the red one looks like it has better bristles. Personally I think they should have kept all of the tools under the lid with the floor brush and cover, and went back to two brushes.

I agree, I don't care for tools on the wands or hoses. Under the hood is good for me. There is also a way in taking the brushes off and replacing it with a grid like piece to use on upholstery.

I went to Sears to see about a powerhead for the Blueberry progressive, I was given an email address to sears parts that there was a customer service guy that would help me.

Help me alright, the cost to replace just the powerhead was  $300.80 more than the vacuum cost new! It costs right now $285.

That has always made no sense to me. It seems with almost every vacuum company, the power nozzle for a canister is more money than the vacuum itself. Regardless, those are some great machines and you were very lucky to find them at those prices!

That blue one is a great find but the red one is better. The blue one has the new Kenmore logo on it which they just changed within the last year or two. I would go to a vac shop and see if they have any PNs laying around. Other than that, check eBay I guess.

I noticed that logo too, I like the old logo better than the new one. I too agree a vacuum shop or eBay would be the best way to find them. EBay seems expensive on Kenmore canisters though, so the PowerMates might be expensive too.

My favorite canisters Kenmore has now are the white one and the blue one with mating floor nozzle, like was found at the other auction.
