Fancy a freshly squeezed orange juice?

Got no squeezer?

Do you own a Dyson DC27/33?

Good, take the cyclone apart 😃 you might want to clean it first...

Did you know that juices from the supermarket contain artificial flavours?

Yes. Artificial flavours and sweeteners are in a lot of things. And you'd be amazed the amount of known dangerous chemicals go into cleaning products.

Oh yes, linking your eco cleaning techniques here lol. ;) I agree though. My OCD is pretty bad though and sometimes I feel as though I should mix two types of bleach together. Not good, I know...

Aw, I know, it's bad :|

I used some today to disinfect my new DC33, the post motor filter had lots of carbon dust but even after using bleach it was still a grey colour, wanted it to be white. I have Dettol spray which I could have used to disinfect it I guess...

I used to steam clean my vacuums so maybe I should go back to doing that after washing. Thank God for steam cleaners! I can just whizz around, if it hasn't been mopped all day I walk on the sides of the kitchen floor (damn, is my OCD really extreme?) and when I walk out of the shower and go upstairs, I step on the sides of the stairs as they seem more cleaner

There is nothing wrong in mixing a bleach with a bleach, although why it would be needed unless you had run out of one bottle is beyond me. It is when cleaning chemicals of different types are mixed that the trouble starts, so it's better not to do it at all.

Many things contain chemicals that are harmful. Our homes are one chemical-filled melting-pot of carcinogens. It's in cleaning products, plastics, our food, you name it. You'd think we would be safer outside, but the air is polluted, there's the risk of being murdered, and of course you take your life in your hands.

Ultimately you are not safe indoors or outdoors, and if you over-think it this leaves suicide as possibly the only course of action, were it not for the fact that death was what we were trying to avoid in the first place.

Someone once told me that we are dying from the day we are born, and I live by that.

I've never understood why OCD is somehow amusing. I knew of someone who had it, and by that I mean was diagnosed with it and displayed many of the problems of it. Life was an absolute living hell for the person who had it, likewise those who lived with and around the person.

A cleaning compulsion is something which only a small percentage of OCD sufferers have. Here in the UK it has been exploited to make cheap television programs. OCD over here is joked about in a way which no one would do about other illnesses. I don't get why this one is singled out.

It's NOT O.C.D. if you are not suffering from it

I recently got the distinction between OCD and OCPD.

A person with OCD feels a sense of suffering due to their obsession/compulsion.  They are often compelled to do something that they don't want to do, like repetitive rituals that must be fulfilled before they can go about their day, illogical concerns for walking on the "right" part of a floor, having to do things in "twos", etc.

A person with OCPD does NOT feel suffering due to their obsession/compulsion, but instead feels they benefit from it.  I fit into this category.  I am an extremely neat, tidy, orderly person.  I cannot leave anything in my immediate surroundings "unkept" or "lived in" or it drives me crazy.  For me, my home and office must look like a magazine cover.  I am constantly putting integrity into that.  However, I do NOT feel a sense of suffering, I feel pride and enjoy the clean environment.  It has become a part of who I am, my "personality"...  Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder.

I empathize with anyone who has any of this.

i am close w/ people with it as well.

It HAS been said that I actually MIGHT have a bit of it: certain things that I do.  Fortunately,  it hasn't ovetaken my life.  Co-workers comment on the things I do, regularly.

  So,  relax.  No offense intended.

We've read a LOT of people in our group here who exhibit some tendencies.  I absolutely have 2 friends who are truly "compulsed"
