I happened to be looking on eBay this week and found this very nice Hoover Convertible 1010 from a local seller. He was a very nice man who happened to be a former Kirby distributor.

Overall, the convertible is in nice shape. The hood looks like a replacement to me, but the bag seems to be original (someone, correct me if I'm wrong). I haven't seen or heard very much about the model 1010. It does have the two position height adjustment and the only other convertible that I have with the two position, is the one I purchased from Tom at the convention. These definitely have a different feel to them than the later 70's convertibles.

It did scream when I first turned it on. But after running it for awhile the noise seemed to die down. I plan on putting some grease on the bearings later on in the week.

Yes the hood is a replacement. It would have had the lime green "convertible" hood as on the 1020. No light or anything.

Here is a bad picture of the hood on my 1020.

Your bag is original! :)

Thanks Bradon

For posting a picture of the correct hood that's suppose to go on the convertible. The wrong hood threw me off. I've seen some like the 1010. Thanks for jogging my memory.

yes, the hood is a replacement.
The correct hood would be the same or very similar shade of green like a 1020 hood, and on the 1010 it didnt have the dark rectangle with Convertible, it simply said Convertible in small seal griege letters

I think I have a brochure for that model. I'll dig it out and scan it and post it here. Nice find. John L.

Here's the front of the Model 1010 brochure (a dealer tear sheet - front and back - that was given out at the debut of a new model).

Thanks

for posting the AD John. I really like the darker brown color scheme on this model. Even the bag spring is painted to match the paint color of the rest of the vacuum. Cool!

Can't wait to service it this weekend!
