i can not figure some peoples thought process.the same kirby listed on ebay two times at two different prices.one for $119.99 & $499.99 ?????!!

Likely scammers. The average IQ level of eBay users has dropped about 70% in the last 10 years. You'll be lucky to even have someone ship you the vacuum at all after it sells. I think out of every 10 vacuums I buy in a row, I receive only about 3 of them. The rest just steal the money and never ship it, then have to wait 2+ weeks for eBay to go through their process of getting my money back waiting for the seller to respond to something they never wil.

i messaged the seller & he said he had to do that to post a video for someone to see the kirby. i say an inexperienced ebay seller !

I love eBay

And have found some absolutely fantastic stuff in the past and recently, but some of these sellers are deluded. I get that people are figuring out that there's a market for old vacs, but daaaaaamn. Marketplace has been my best friend, along with a unique relationship with the local shop owner 🤣

Maybe in some time, like the housing market, the used vacuum market will settle out a bit after everybody gets their jollies from cranking up the prices? Old machines have their value without a doubt but after a while it does become subjective.

Vintage Appeal

As modern machines become more and more cheaply made and last for shorter periods even people that don’t collect vacuums will seek out the older better made stuff for less money than the new throw away junk made overseas. The issue for the everyday person will be finding service parts on many older machines that don’t have parts support that a new machine would.

Since I'm not on facebook, my only options are eBay, Craigslist, and thrift stores.
Of those three, thrift stores have provided the best bargains.
I'll buy parts and supplies on eBay, but I've never bought a vacuum that way. Generally, the cost of shipping makes it impractical.
I've gotten a few from Craigslist. They don't show up often. But, when they do, it's sometimes a good deal. Right now, in fact, someone has a beautiful green Eureka 2091 D, in what looks like really good condition. But, they're firm on $80 for it. That's still cheap compared to an eBay price, plus shipping. But, compared to thrift store prices, it kind of hurts. If it was an absolute dream find, or like one from my childhood or something, I might go for it. But, under the circumstances, I'll probably have to pass.

youre really missing out on vacs by not seeing items on facebook marketplace. it killed off craiglist about 5 years ago. also check local estate sales. them and marketplace turn on vintage vacs. thrift stores rarely show up anything prior to 1980 anymore in them.

Thanks, Will.
Somehow, I just never felt the need to join facebook.
But, with multiple people telling me about marketplace, I might just have to take the leap.
Of course, I'm really supposed to be cutting back on my purchases. So, maybe I'm better off without marketplace!
