Hello,

I'm a new member from Germany and would like to offer a used Hoover S4070 from the 70s for sale.
We found it in the cellar of my grandma.
I'm a collector of basketball jerseys, so I know everything vintage has its value.
My brother propably would have thrown that Hoover in the trash. Luckily he isn't in charge to clean out my grandma's apartment.
The vacuum cleaner was in a box for 20 years or longer, since she got a new one.
I'd like to sell it and tested the water on a German classifieds site.
There is not a huge demand here, but I got an offer of 40 € (~ 35 pounds).
Is that a good price or could I get more for it?
I browsed all Ebay sites but couldn't find a completed auction of the same Hoover.
I'm willing to ship internationally, so you can make me a higher offer for it.
But I also would appreciate it if someone could just help me out with the value of this Hoover model.

Condition: I only turned on the power so far and the sound is ok. Didn't do any real tests with it yet. The surface has a few scratches but nothing major.
Also have a set of replacement bags.

Best regards, Daniel

Daniel,

Welcome! I collect ONLY Hoover products. That is a nice model, good hose, correct wands, no other tools. from it's approximate age, that is probably a decent price. We don't have that type here in the U.S. It would be very nice in my collection, but, I'm "over here". I'm glad it wasn't trashed. It seems to have been well-taken care of. Good luck with the sale. I hope this was of some help.
My deceased nephew and you shared the same passion/collection.
John

Thanks for your reply, John.
I didn't know that some cleaners were only available in certain countries.
And your comment on the price was also helpful.
I might even ship to the States, but it's damn expensive.
Something like 50 bucks. Propably not worth it for you.

Best regards, Daniel

Hi Daniel89, welcome to vacuumland! My name is Gabriel and I got one question, I live at Dallas TX and how much do you think it will the Hoover will cost in US dollars? Just curious. And from looking at the serial number I believe your Hoover was made in April 1980.

Hello Gabriel,

sorry for my late answer.
Shipping to the States would be about 45 dollars.
You can see the prices in € here: https://www.dhl.de/de/privatkunden/preise/preise-international.html

I'm not even sure it would work under 5 kg. If it's above 5 kg, then shipping is even more expensive.

As far as the cleaner goes, feel free to make me a higher offer than I received here in the Germany. (40 € = 50 Dollars)
But I'm not in a rush to sell it.
Planning to field offers in the collectors' group on Facebook as well.

Best regards, Daniel

5 kg are 11 pounds (lbs).
Shipping from Germany to the States would cost 45 dollars with a package up to 11 pounds.
If it's heavier than that, it's something like 60 dollars.
Propably not worth it for you in the end.
But at least you don't have to pay horrendous import taxes, like us Germans do when we import something from the States.

Best regards, Daniel
