Thought I'd post this picture of a machine someone brought in yesterday for repair. After all these years, she cracked the hose, rusted out the bottom plate and brushroll and has squealy bearings (this is used at their beach house). She traded it in on the new Platinum style upright with bare floor/carpet option.

The model is: MC-9430

I always loved anything Pana Jet-Flo!

The motors had that understated purr with just a touch of the high pitch sound that made them soun like they were going airborne. I always found the sound to be so refreshing from the raucous sound of the Ametek/Lamb motors. I had a Pana canister with the Dual Sweep power nozzle. I loved it!

That's almost exactly what one of my teenaged employees said- it sounds like a jet taking off!

I'm glad the lady traded it- it will have its final resting place on the ledge of vintage machines that goes around the store. At least till we need to rob parts from it...

I think maybe back around 1993 was the last time I saw the Canister w/ the Dual Sweep nozzle straight out of the box. The suction motor was different because it didn't have that sound.

I don't really understand why the Japanese manufacturers took their heart of the vacuum industry when it comes to exporting machines to this country. Seems like there's still plenty of room in the U.S. vacuum market and this would be a perfect time for a Japanese resurgence as a way of showing that vast difference in quality between them and Chinese made machines which carry various other brand names.
