Vacuumland has introduced me to old fashioned waxed floors, and it seems so right.

I'm never sullying a hardwood floor with polyurethane again.

Which led me to the discovery of all the cool vintage floor polishers. (This hobby is like CRACK!)

I already have Kirbies with Miracle Heads.

Should I dive deeper into this vacuumland insanity and start looking at cool old polishers, or should I pump the brakes and just use my Kirbies?

Thanks for your time.

Polishers.

Yes! there's a wide sellection to choose from. Most vacuum cleaner companies featured floor polishing attachments, and a few like Electrolux, General Electric, Regina, to name only three machines made strictly for polishing, scrubbing, and so on. It's another great topic to discover.

I would try your Kirby's first and if you're not satisfied with the results, then start looking for a dedicated floor polisher.

sptyks

Well that makes sense. :P

Thanks sptyks.

Although I was wondering if anybody knew if the buffers were much better or not.

It would be nice if a Kirby was just as good as anything else,  but then I would have no excuse to buy a cool old buffer.

Kirby Miracle-Head

The reason James B. Kirby thought up these attachments was a two-fold idea. Certainly they added to the features, but waxing floors was a man's job, same reasoning for the Handi-Butler, it drew the husband into the demo. No longer was it a 'vacuum cleaner' demo, he could use it at his workbench, or use the sprayer to kill the bugs attacking his rose bushes.

On a personal note, I once used the Turbo-sander of the G-4 to strip an entire floor, then used the Rollo-Waxer to put down the wax, and the Miracle-Head to give it a mirror finish. I also used the Rug Renovator to shampoo carpeting as a side-line while selling Kirby's.

But what I said earlier was that there are some awesome vintage polishers out there. But then I'm not just into vacuum cleaners, I'm into all forms of floor and carpet appliances including carpet sweepers, rug beaters and so on.
