Finally preparing the Vacuum "gallery". Care to see some HOOVERS?

Great photos!! Hope summer is treating you well!!

Your collection is great John!! Tons of Hoover heritage. Maybe the next Minimeet we can make use of a fondue pot. Cheese fondue, Spinach dip, crab dip, Buffalo Chicken dip, I'm sure we could come up with something. The electric skillets look really neat too!

How is the new KitchenAid dishwasher doing?

I hope that your headaches are doing better. Whitney my brothers fiance has tons. She was prescribed Imitrex which has to be taken at onset of them. Sometimes they worked and other times they didn't. Her newest prescription from Neurologist is Maxalt, again to be taken at onset of migraine. Both of those however are only to help ease pain once migraine arrives. For prevention they have recommended various dosages of Topomax and a few others out there. Hopefully your Neurologist has some great advice for your case!!

Hydration is a key as well! There is no substitute for water. Physicians told us that Iced Tea and even 100% Apple Juice will refresh you from the heat but dehydrate you further in the end. They wanted us to follow Iced Tea and Apple Juice with a glass of water. No soda drinkers in our house, so we don't have to worry about that boat!!!

If ever you get into heavy reorganizing or want a weekend of heavy work, contact me and with notice I can get up there for a weekend and help. I enjoy helping friends! Coming to your house I know I won't need to bring a vacuum but I can bring landscaping tools or other things or even just food! It's what I do everyday for clients of mine. My client list is growing and business is better too!! From lawn mowing, planting, weeding, cleaning, basement reorganization, spackling, I do almost anything my clients might need help with around their homes! I don't work for the commercial cleaning company anymore nor Rainbow or Filter Queen. I like my own thing with working for families and households.

Hope you're doing well John! Stay well and cool in Pittston!! Tell everyone I say Hi that you speak too!! Shoutouts to Joel W, Joe K, Matt G, Bill W, Greg P., Mark & JT, Chris S., Mike G. and everyone else from Minimeets!! Hope everyone is great!!

Happy SUPREME Sunday from the Hoover PowerMax Supreme S3611!! This is the 1st time I have ever fully photographed this machine as it's still new to me. Thank you Chris!! It's the 1st Hoover canister I've ever tried with the variable speed motor!

You have such a nice collection of Hoover Convertibles and kitchen appliances. Back then, I thought Hoover only made vacuum cleaners.

BTW, the upright model in the picture in reply# 201 looks modernized but unappealing. It seems lighter than the old Convertibles but less durable. Are the older models better than this lightweight Platinum upright?

Even if the upright models from the 60's and 70's were better than the Platinum upright, I would prefer getting one of those lightweight upright models from Riccar, Simplicity or Soniclean since, apart from valuing quality, I assume that the bags compatible with the vintage Convertibles are discontinued.

Discontinued?!

Not even! Lol. Hoover type C bags are readily available from Hoover, as well as aftermarket versions. Belts are still readily available, bearings, carbon brushes, brush strips...because, you know, they're still manufacturing several variations of the Convertible for the commercial sector. Have you even used a Hoover Convertible?

Rob,

Nice to hear from you. THe dishwasher is doing great...only used it 7 times, but.
Sure, we can make 'fondue' next time you're here.
The yard is not its usual 'manicured state'... waiting for a part for the lawnmower..... long story.
As far as the headaches. a nightmare!! I'm drinking lots of water... have lost 7 pounds since the convention. Sadly, down the road, these headaches might require a craniotomy... another long story. I try very hard not to think about that. In the meantime, I just chug along. Looks like a 'summer minmeet' will have to wait: just too many things happening. I think the next meet will be the "Monster Mash Bash, 4, or is it 5??" in October. More info on that later. I hope you can make it. They are always a fun time.
We're having an 85th birthday celebration in August for my aunt. I'm trying to make my annual visit to North Canton soon as well. The summer session at the college has just begun, and I'm volunteering at my church festival in 2 weeks. So, a ton of things are happening in a close time frame.
I'm glad to see things are going nicely for you. Let's talk soon. You know you are ALWAYS welcome here at my place.
John

Hooverboy81, I don't have much experience with a Hoover Convertible nor did my parents ever own one since I was born. I also wasn't informed much about the kinds of bags that the Hoover products use.

However, after you told me the bags for the Convertibles are still available now, I did some research on these bags in other websites and I learned that we can indeed order the bags for these vintage Convertible models on Amazon.

It's true

You can still get new ones made by Hoover, (in China). You still may find lots and lots of them on ebay (genuine North Canton). I find them all the time at thrift stores and scoop them up whenever I see them.
You'll have no trouble getting any of the bags, with the exception of the "W" (handisac). I doubt you'll be needing them.
John.

Yes, I did. And, thanks!

The "Platinum" is ok....  the bag is HUGE, I like that.  When you plug it in,  a light goes on.  I KNOW there's power. I turned it on! That is not necessary! The light is bright,  it has 2 speeds,  the fooe release is on the RIGHT side. Hoover NEVER did that!  I can imagine a lot of them breaking that way.

The little "Portapower wannabe", is loud, the tools look like toys,  It's ok.  I don't use the Platinum often,  but, it's not bad... NOT Hoover's finest hour,  but........

Yesterday, I was up in the "gallery/cats' apt".

going through things.  I almost died at the stuff I was finding.......  another heater,  tools,  books, etc.....

I'm soon going to post the rest of the 50s cleaners...  Then,  I'm anxious to start with the Convertibles!!

Stay Positive!!

Glad you're keeping the positive morale!! I hope doctors can continue to offer you guidance and help with out drastic measures!!

Thank you for the open invitation! I love coming that way when I can!

I look forward to more photos. I'm quite stressed and swamped at moment with getting ready to move. Once the move is over much will be better!! Will abolutely talk soon!!

All the best and stay well John!!

Dear John,I´m sorry to know you´re still having those headaches. You know I worry about them, but I know you can´t avoid them. There´s not much I can say about them, but there´s a lot a friends around you who loves you, worry about your health and above all you´re not alone, even for people so far away as the other hemisphere.
Hugs Gus.

Gus, you are terribly kind!!

I've had headaches (but not like this) since I was 10 years old. My grandmother, aunt, father, and nephew have all had 'brain things'...so, it's not 'news'. But......
you have always been so very kind to everyone in here. THat shows the kind of person you are....that is truly a gift!
There'll be more photos very soon. I love getting these things together to share with others. They're like hamsters: one day you have one, then two.............................................. What's great is finding the things you've only heard about. WhenI visit my friend, Tom A. I see things and make a mental list. I enjoy seeing my friends come for a visit/meet and see, try out, photograph all this stuff. It's great.
More pics VERY SOON.......
John
