Just received an Eureka Roto-matic in cherry red. Badly packed, but looks okay so far. The cloth bag is, well, in bad shape. The hose's weaving is damage and probably leaks. The top inside where the bag sits is rusty and hose mount did not swivel. Did, because I already cleaned it up. I have to figure out how to replace the C clip and not damage where it goes. This one will end up next to my green/white Eureka when it is restored.
Paint looks pretty good, the decal is even better. I am going to enjoy this one.

It will have to wait till I am done with my Royal 132, which I am currently about done with hooking up a Power Nozzle (because it has the port).

Tell me about your experience with this vacuum.

Cherry Apple Red Eureka and Royal 132

Here are the pictures on my, yes, messy work bench. The top part of the Royal is in the truck ready to check out spray paint colors at AutoZone.

I may or may not repaint the outside of the Eureka. The dolly is the worst shape, missing one of the metal clips that hold it to the motor unit. Anyone have an extra clip?

I also have no source for the dolly's bumper.

Thanks for asking.

Very nice looking machine!

How does the motor sound, good shape? No experiences with them but I remember seeing many in use back in their day.Hope you can find a clip for it.

The motor sounds...

great and the suction got stronger with a replacement hose. I also sourced cloth bags for the Eureka. And may have found the last 2 packages for the Royal. At least with the original bags, I can make new ones. I do like Kenkart's idea of gluing a pressure cooker gasket on to use open to bags like GE's.

Hey

I don't know but there is a habitat for humanity near me. Latches are plentiful in a place like this. Someone may have a parts vacuum and have same bracket. Old chests have latches tool boxes etc. Just match them up. I wouldn't use original bags. I'd save them and use other bags more accessible.
Those are two very nice looking vacuums. I have seen a older vacuum similar to rotomatic and it's sweetest vaccuum I've seen.

LES!!!!

I must not look at pictures of the Atlas, nor the Universal Jet 99....because I have longed for one of each.

*Watch one show up on Ebay for a high price* I have limited funds and I keep finding what I want for less.

I am now wanting a Sebo Airbelt canister now that I scored a Sebo X4 and a clone branded, Javelin 12. Both will soon be sold on Austin Craigslist. Also shown is my Shark Rocket, found at Goodwill for cheap. Except for having to clean the power Nozzle and the dust cup, it is in excellent shape.

Hey

I know the atlas is super rare. It's also a pretty penny. I have that rocket which is 4.2 amps. I also have duo clean rocket that's 5 amps. I've gotten 2 lift aways from thrift store. I tore apart one and it got thrown out as it was too far gone. The other I gifted to my father and got him a 12 ft hose and new filters for it. He loves it.
I do love rockets because other than compact no straight air machines and when I work on vacuums I drop screws etc and a normal vacuum would get ruined. This sucks them up and o get magnet and collect all MIA screws.
The blue royal is my favorite color on vacuums. I want a canister and a power team 12 amp one. I have to thin out my huge herd but the royal power team is one I'll be getting.
Those are in very nice shape being that old.

I understand too well:

I got the Shark for compact storage in the dinette & kitchen as that is where my dog's fur gathers and I don't want to use my portable Eureka. The attachments for the Shark are on the way and I have a good place to install the wall hanger.

Speaking of MIA screws and other metal stuff, I drag a magnet around by a cord (directed by a Gopher) very often. I was working on a vintage Toaster mechanism which included a TINY spring. I dropped it a total of 6 times before I got it fitted in place.

There is an Atlas on Ebay, just the motor unit and priced over $200, so I will not get it. If you look at it, it has a makeshift gasket under the bag lid. People were very resourceful about repairs when they had to be. My green Roto-matic had a few clever "things" that had been done to it.

My creation is, I made a temporary bumper for the Red Eureka using Duct brand sealer, since a replacement is not available. Another one could be a Hoover Celebrity gasket seal. I may find one.

Hey

I actually had my riccar Supra lite 4 I replaced fan but it had a foam gasket and it basically was what you have there. I wouldn't even call it makeshift as it's probably what you would get if you ordered one. Ya the atlas pic I got off eBay is over $200. I have a dresser a ottoman dresser 2drawer chest a rolling cart and 3 rugs and side of bed has drawers and screws are everywhere. I check once a month. Im in process of taking all vacuum items to the shed and have a bedroom back.
I like sharks work great for what I need.
The gasket is perfect and clamp should work good. I have a 1920s royal 3 wheel vacuum. I'm going to have to make something for back single wheel. I asked only place that has any royal parts and nothing. I may get a early 500 series spacer off a Kirby housing I busted back body piece off. I may have to drill center of vacuum wheel out to fit but I think it will work.
