Finally I found my Twin Power Automatic Vacuum

Here is the latest addition and long awaited Eureka Model 2070a. Bought from Leisurelady on ebay. I detailed it, put a headlight lens on it, and had a 6.5 amp two speed motor put in by a local vacuum shop. Just got it back. I originally bought a Eureka Model 2070 B in the early 70's. One of the best vacuums I ever had. Not only did I clean my home, but cleaned my grandmothers once a week for several years with this machine. This is an a instead of a b and the only difference I can see is how the bottom plate latches.

I did put a NOS Square End brush roll in it and steam cleaned the bag and all metal parts as part of my detailing, which included using lysol disinfectant wipes.
This is a dream come true. Oh and I did have to put a new bellows bag coupling on.

I did update the fill tube with the ST Adapter to use ST bags making this a very good filtering vacuum.

Very nice looking Eureka. I have never seen one like it. I like the blue color and the trim on the machine.

You have a very nice eureka!!!! I like how the bag was modified, with having a bigger opening and a ridged bag tube the suction is much better.

my former Eureka

Glad it's in a good home with nice carpet to clean.Also with someone who knows the basic parts can still be found.I still have many Eurekas but almost nothing with this quality cloth bag or this deluxe.Will it share a closet with my former Montgomery Ward of about 2 years ago or will they have separate floors to clean?

What a lovely cleaner....I can hear it humming along in my mind!

I wonder if Electrolux kept some parts of the Bloomington Illinois factory intact. That plant made some of America's best vacs in its day.

Who knows......they could be making Automatic 260s there as we speak! Filling out an order for Montgomery Ward! But who knows? I sure don't!

Thanks to all for the nice replies. I would have been around 20 or 21 when I bought my brand new in the box 2070B and to this day I could kick myself in the A** for trading it in even though it was for a Eureka ESP 2 speed 6amp which actually had the new triple filter filtration. With that said, being able to put the st bag adapter on gave me the filtration that we are now used to with todays vacuums. Not hepa but really good filtration. I can settle for that.

Eurekaprince, you and I seem to have grown up in a time where Eureka and Hoover were absolutely the best in floor care. I especially liked the square handle on the 260 and actually had a vacuum store put one on my 2070B. I do have a Model 260 with the square handle and two speed switch, that I did the same thing to several years back. I buy donor machines from time to time and take the good parts off of them. That is how I had the headlight lens to put on the one in the pictures. I also have about 3 twin power automatic bags from donor machines. If you ever find your dream machine and need a part, I may be able to help.

My dream machine would have to be the exact blue 260 I grew up with. The challenge is to find one with the older graphic on the bag. Ours must have been from 1958 or 1959. The bag did not have the name EUREKA built vertically like this Twin Power. It had a vertical rectangle at the top of the bag with just the "flying E" and the word Automatic stacked vertically in the box. I think this was the graphic on the previous red 250. But to find it in a blue bag is rare. Ours had the square handle which, when you think about it, is actually not very comfortable to grasp. Our 260 had no rubber handle grip either.

I always thought the unique Eureka wheels were cool - they kind of looked like the segmented wheels of a Trivial Pursuit winning pie slice holder! But these wheels were on all Eureka cleaners in the 1960's, both canisters and uprights. I could spot a Eureka in a department store display even from the bottom of the machine sitting on its end - just by these wheels!!!
