I finally broke down and packed my E2 black rainbow up and sent it in for a cleaning. I was a little hesitant to ship it so I sent my se first and got it back with no shipping damage. Just got it back today and its so clean I kind of hate to use it. The cleaning was $75, HEPA filter was $36 and bearing adaptor asm was $7. Shipping one way was $20. I would have spent more than that for gas to take in down. Should be good for another 7 years or so.

I sent it to www.rainvac.com. They are in Hagerstown MD. Been dealing with them for many years. They are 100% only rainbow. If you can't find it there for your rainbow, its not made and their prices are unbeatable.

Used it today and I really couldn't tell any difference in the amount of suction with the 7 year old filter vs. a new one but without a meter there is really no way to tell.

glad you got it back and its all 'new'

I JUST helped a vacuum shop take mine apart and thoroughly clean it. It was educational as I had no experience servicing my Rainbows....did the E2 Black and my D4 SE, Both were in great shape and he was stunned at how clean they were inside. :-). I do the basics religiously....never store the Main unit on the water basin (wet), clean the separator every other or every time I use it, clean out the water basin after each use, and change the HEpa filter every few years.

I really question the work at that price.

Really, what would you say you should be looking at price wise to have it cleaned
