Finally a version of my most sought after vacuum

Here it is with its bag all blown up, The bag on my grans one fasinated me as a kid, My own Moms machine a Hard bagged Moulinex Major hid the bag away.


On my grans machine the bag had the Electrolux emblem imprinted on the bag.


 


I love the shape of the bag on this machine

That Columbus is one hell of a vacuum-Very high quality-esp like the all metal motor frame-indeed unusual motor brushes-wide and thin!That machine cleaned up well.Too bad those didn't make it to the US!The condition of the fan-and fancase--excellent-like the machine did and didn't get hard use.No nicks in the fan blades-but weird how the fluff got into the motor housing-like there was a leak in the fancase or a bad fancase-motor case gasket.

Rex , Yes their was a major falior of the fancase gasket. 


 


I love the way it grooms the carpet. The bristles are thick and give the carpet a lovely fresh look

Good-replacing the fancase gasket solved the dirt under the hood problem.See this with Sanitaires brought in to the vac place for repair.Would like to see those vacs here!!Makes a Sanitaire look like a little weakling!

I would not be surprised if they imported a few sample Sanitaires/ Eureka's to help get ideas to design this one

How did the columbus machines compare price wise with the hoovers?

They were slightly cheaper, In those days, The 70's Hoover commanded a premium
