Jimmy,

What model and type is each Eureka Roto-Matic? Do you have original hoses and tools for them?

Premier/GE

Yes,still here. The better and more rare will not be trash or scrap nor will they be $5-$20 as many can. Both should have hose & attachments. Will try to call soon or call me.

Thanks, Jimmy.

I've since gotten to thinking I'd rather have a Golden Crown. When time allows, let me know if you spot any along with at least a matching green fair condition hose and floor and dusting brush tools. I don't expect a full or perfect set, but would like to be able to use it for vacuuming my car's interior and for other smaller jobs I could do.

I appreciate you. Hope the bookstore is going well along with your vac storage clean-out. Take care.

Sounds good, Jimmy.

Btw, as far as I know the Golden Crown had two different versions: models 960 and 960-A (unless the -A had a different top color). I'd be interested in knowing if you had both, and what the noticeable differences were. I've seen newspaper ads without naming the model designations that all read the same, except some mention the Vibra-Beat nozzle; so I'm guessing that's the difference. I have no preference and am not keen on having the V-B, just curious if the ratings plates and features are otherwise the same if you have both.

I would also be interested in any Eureka with a good 50th anniversary decal. I've seen a couple different canisters and a 260-A upright with them from past online sales or part of someone's collection.

Thanks for keeping me in mind with all your other shoppers for books and cleaners.

P.S. You likely know the information already; just wanted to remind not insinuate otherwise.

"Interesting you had ---"

You (and sometimes me) have no idea what is here. I will try to show more after the other 2 collectors expected soon take out more. One way or another most of what I have needs to become what I had!

Living vicariously through this post…..

It’s almost like a cautionary tale. I cleaned out a closet last year and took 4 truckloads of vacuums and accessories to my storage unit. Nowadays, if I have the luxury to go looking for another machine for my collection, I find myself doing a closer inspection of it to see what’s broken, or missing, etc. Then I immediately look online to determine my prospects for getting replacement parts. If I don’t think I can get anything to fix it, I’ll leave it behind. Wish I had been more selective about my machines a few decades ago.

"--history--"

I have always had an interest in vacuums and still have a grandmothers Royal tank and an aunts 2 motor AirWay upright. Then worked in sales, service and office with Electrolux.Bought an existing vac store later moving to present 2 story building.Sold some new and mostly good used and supplies, parts, repair.Would buy trade ins from DTD dealers and sell best, scrap worst, some for parts and a few would be collectable.Bought from local retired vac shops.Met more collectors and found more for personal collection and found more vac stores closing. Then with Dyson,Shark and China changing the vac industry I do less vacs and more books, another long time interest, moving from books in antique malls to separate full time book store. Then find that 2 buildings is 1 too many. Now have offers to buy the vac shop building when EMPTY.Which will happen this year!Who wants what and who will be next?!?

Jimmy:
I'm going through the same thing you are with wanting to retire and close the store. Most of my machines were already restored, so they had to sell on eBay since they went for more than just parts machines. Can't wait to get out of the vacuum business, I've been fixing filthy sweepers for 45 years now.

Tom,

I understand.I hope to never replace a bearing on an SE or even see a Dyson clutch.I need to move out a first layer of as is and scrap to hopefully have time for better and more complete vacs some of which will be kept and many need new homes.Kirby will be one that I keep none of as I have seen enough on my workbench! And now another day of trying to work with vacs and being pulled away by book customers.
Jimmy
Kirby trim-May be some generic but have to move out more vacs before I look at parts.
