Hi, I'd love to have it, and since I live in L.A. I could come and pick it up and you wouldn't have to mess with shipping it. You can contact me directly at [email protected]. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you were just wanting this machine because it was close to you, or if you were wanting a filtex, but I found one on eBay that's very similar to the one above. Take care!
stricklybojack, that's a really nice Filtex. I've always like these early models and have had several of them come and go over the years. The one I still have has a very ornate logo on top of the machine instead of on the sides. It's the one on the left in this photo.
Those are perfect examples of the Filtex I like! What year do these date to? Judging by the style, I'd say late 30's early 40's? I predominantly lean towards uprights, but there are a few neat lookin' tanks that I'd certainly go for.
The first Filtex model was introduced in 1938. I have an advertising pamphlet for this model and it says across the top "FILTEX Proven Since 1938." However, I don't know what the 1938 model looks like.
I have the instruction booklet for the model/version I still have. It references several patent numbers on the cover page of the patent (see attached file). There's a sales receipt section on the back cover that is filled in with a sale date of 1947.
To me, the overall aesthetics and design of this machine put it in the mid to late 1930s so my hunch is that this was the same basic model until the early 1950s when the later version came out (like the one in the first posting in this thread).
