Rob W gave the definitive answer above; there were two model PN's to match Dylan's brown marble finish. I think what Dylan has now looks stellar. Someday if he finds a OE PN for a reasonable price, he can jump on it. Until then he uses the FrankenQueen set-up.

I'm joyed that you like the set up :)

I thought people would detest the green cord as its not original but i quite enjoy it and im glad people like it :) also having a 50 foot cord and it only cost me 10$ were as to get a brown 20 foot cord from the vac shop was going to cost me 30$ just for the cord it was the better choice lol

Also what do you guys think it would look like if i paint the black pn to match the cord? or is a lime green cord taking it to far lol

My.....

opinion is too leave it as is.....green cord is fab, but don't go further with the color.

Instead of painting the power nozzel brown take it to you local vac shop and I am sure they will happily trade you an original brown power nozzel since the one you have there is much newer than the machine it self. It would be a shame to wreck such a nice and new power nozzel thanks. Zach

ture i could try that but today ive made modifycations to the pn i wired a power swich on the top of it... so i think its to late for that now... altho the modification looks factory done,

Well.....

I'm no expert on Filter Queens (and maybe that's the problem

) but I think the newer style PN looks great and probably functions better than the old? If I'm using and old LUX, I use a modern LUX hose.  Doesn't look 'period' but works and lasts much better. The old cloth hoses were beautiful,  but they weren't the greatest. Even the Diamond Jubilee we bought new....you had to store the hose just in the right position so it wouldn't deform.  To me anyway, half the fun of these old vacs is using them.....

Kevin

i agree :) i just want to paint it because there are some huge scraches on the top of the black pn that you cant see in pictures and its been bothering me because the vac is beautiful and scrach free and the scraches sticks like a sore thumb to me lol

And i agree i love the old lux's but the hoses are very finikey, i even find the new ones you have to store them the right way or the string weave under the clear plastc will go funny...

As....

Rob said above you have two choices in PN's to be authentic; one brown marbled like your Filter Queen and one with a chrome like finish. I don't know how you would do the brown marbling, but there are plastic paints with mirror/chrome finishes that look exactly like chrome. Maybe the brown marbling is done like camouflage paint....I dunno, painting isn't my strong suit, sorry.

im thinking of just going with the plain crome look or just leaveing it and finding another origional pn to go with it at some point :P because i SUCK a painting lol

on another note ive got an attachment ring for the top yesterday :D

Kevin- Just so you know, it's NOT a painted marbled brown finish. What I was referring to when I said it was a "marbled finish" is on the raised part of the hood where the headlight is, there are two strips of the same "marble" applique that's on the Filter Queen's tub, & the hood is made of brown plastic.

Dylan- If I was you, I would just leave it alone. Instead, I would just keep my eyes peeled for a matching PN for a good price. Then, if this PN is still in good shape, you could always sell it on Ebay or in the classifieds. And by the way....thanks for your comment on my Filter Queen I posted above! It was in pretty good shape when I found it, besides needing a new blower basket, dusting brush bristles & the rubber on the wheeled caddy replaced.

Rob

i think im going to do that :) ive took an old filter queen power switch and modifyed it so i could turn it on and off, i got rather annoyed haveing to turn the vacuum off everytime i needed to turn the pn off for a second lol

and no problem its so beautiful :) what year is it?

Rob...

that's not at all what I meant. I realize it was probably an <a name="start_18540.204362">applique....something like that usually is unless it's real camo. My idea was to 'forge' the look somehow with paint(s). I also said I really wouldn't have any idea how to do it exactly because painting isn't my strong suit. Finding chrome paint for plastic though, is easy enough.</a>

Dylan:

I don't have an exact year....Health-Mor didn't have information for models that old when I inquired....but was told it's from the early 1950's, like 1951, 1952, 1953. Unfortunately, the motor date wouldn't hold much clues....although I just replaced the basket & didn't check it out, I can tell from the blower exhaust that the motor is a replacement, which makes sense considering it's age & that it was still being used in the garage & to clean out cars when I found it.

Now, the powerhead you have....that would be anywhere from 1996/97 to 2002, as this was used on 2 models, the Filter Queen 70th Anniversary & Filter Queen Limited Edition. I have heard around here & other sources, like YouTube & Facebook, that the Limited Edition model with this PN was discontinued in 2002. There are 2 ways to date it....you could go by the serial number on the bottom plate, or if your PN motor still has it's original Ametek info sticker, the date of production should be on there.

Kevin: My apologies for the misunderstanding. I thought that you were thinking the "marble" finish was painted on. I did not realize that you knew the "marble" finish was an applique, & was merely thinking that perhaps if you had more experience it could be re-created through paint somehow. I will give you credit, though....at least you realize painting isn't your greatest strength, & best not to try it.

His .....

original pic had '<a name="start_18540.204506"></a><a name="start_18540.204362"><strong>applique' written all over it. But now that I think of it, there are lots of printers out there duplicating original print stickers like that. But...it gets sticky with copyrighted stuff; some printers care, while others don't.  I don't really understand the distinction unless a company objects. For example, a printer will make me all the original stickers for a TroyBilt tiller and I can also get all the original stickers for a vintage Raleigh ten speed bike on eaby. However, I've had T-shirt companies refuse to print any brand/company logos on a shirt. I'm sure it all makes sense to legal eagles somewhere, but not to me.</a></strong>
