love it

I had one I inherited from my great grandmother and loved it. It was nearly new when I got, she had central vac so the princess was next to never used. But sadly I gave it my Aunt when she moved out of state. The long hose on these is great!

The long hose coupled with a long cord is indeed awesome!
(Unlike my shop vac that had a 4 foot cord until I replaced it with a 16 foot one!)

Thanks for the comments guys! Filter Queen is fast becoming one of my favorite brands, as I've not used another vac with more suction and better filtration yet!
And since I primarily have wood floors, it makes sense to have a canister as my daily driver!

What is the difference

between the Princess II and the Princess III?  I have a Princess II and it looks identical to the III.  Same power nozzle, same attachments, same hose and same color scheme.  Only difference I see is my tub and power nozzle say II instead of III.

II vs III

Princess III would have had better wheels and longer hose.If hoses are same now the III may have been changed to more common shorter hose after original wore.-Both are great vacs!

Tom:

There's one that even you forgot about....the short-lived green Filter Queen Optima, which used a bag instead of the filter cone.

Will: Very nice Princess III! Looks like it has been well cared for. If you don't mind me asking, though, what happened to the original powerhead? I see you have a Princess II powerhead in your photo.

As most people know here, I do prefer Electrolux to Filter Queen, but I do have 2 Model 700's & a Limited Edition in my collection, & they do have their merits as a cleaner too I guess :-)

They've invented a...

Lewyt. The Optima had a paper bag instead of a cone, just like Lewyt was forced to do after the successful lawsuit by Health-Mor in 1950.

Ooh! the Empress looks very similar to the P3! Very cool! And that Optima is neat too. Did it filter as well as the cone style ones?

And another question, on my old 1959 Filter Queen 500, it has a different motor baffle material, is this same style material still available, or just the sponge foam one? The baffle in the Princess 3 has deteriorated, and I haven't gotten a new one yet, because under heat, foam will deteriorate and I think it's a poor choice for a motor compartment because of this.

Filter Queens

Great pics everyone! All these Filter Queens are neat. I have a brown D31X and I love it! I think its going to get a lot of use during this years allergy season. I just finished vacuuming with it and my sinuses feel better already. The motor baffle was also deteriorating in mine. I haven't gotten around yet to replacing it though.

The post-motor filter

was called the "Filter Bat" and was made of cotton. It helped quiet down the motor and filtered carbon brush dust. About ten years ago, Health-Mor started using foam, which did not quiet down the motor very well - BUT - they were using a single fan motor that created a lot of heat and the cotton filter bat didn't allow the heat to escape once it got dirty. The overheat light would go on. I do not know of any supplier of the original cotton filter batting that we could use today. If anyone finds a source, please let us all know.
