Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Majestic model from EBay. The previous owner obviously used an obnoxious floral scent on the felt pad. I was quick to discard the pad hoping that would help. I also installed a new foam batting dome filter yesterday... the old one reeked of the scent and was also near black from the motor carbon dust. I was so shocked when the scent still filled the air! Is there anything I'm missing to take care of the issue? Thanks!

I had this issue with two vac I bought used.

The worst on was a Vita-Vac (Air-Way) canister. This thing reeked of flowery carpet fresh type smell. I tried several things before I was able to use it without the house smelling like a French Brothel.

1. I changed th bags and filters (It sounds like you did that with the filter cone and motor filter, and batting.
2. I wiped out the bag compartment with Clorox wipes. You can wipe down the basin of the Queen with a damp rag just as well.
3. I Finally sat the thing on the porch and let it run outside for about 20 minutes to "air out".

Finally I was able to use it without gagging on spring freshness.

You may want to replace the felt scent pad under the blower port as it may harbor some of the flowery odors.

Just came back to ask

If you have had any luck, De-stenching?

Once you do you will love the Filter Queen. I am very happy with mine, except. . .If I had one, and only one complaint. No it's not dumping the dust bucket, I can handle that. Not the filter cones either, they are relatively inexpensive on ebay.

It's the cord. Why is Healthmor so stingy with their cords? They give you a nice long hose, which I truly appreciate. I just can't understand why they put such a short cord on their machines. I wish they had a 35' option like some of the other machines on the market, but it doesn't look like a cord change would be an easy job on the FQ.

In any case, I hope you are able to get the stench aired out so you can enjoy your new machine.
