Filter Queen Model 99 Questions

I picked up a Filter Queen Triple Crown Model 99 atthe Salvation Army for $25. Its in fairly good shape, a little pitting on the chrome (but I think i can clean that off)

I know very little of these machines and can't find any pictures, diagrams, books, etc....

I changed the filter cone (its an off brand but its cellulose and i know I need the real ones)

The other post, he memtioned changing the belt wich I will do...

Otherwise how do I get to the filter in the top cone?

The other two filters inside the cellulose cone filter i cleaned off really wekkk. I also changed the filter on the end of the motor under the plastic dome on the lid...

Any help is appricated it.. Wasn;t sure I was going to keep this, but I think i will.. It looks like a real strong trooper and I wanna make sure its in top shape.

BTW- What does a tune up involve on these machines??

Also I am a visual person, I need to see pictures.. Descriptions dont always help

I bought these at a local Vacum repair center. They are the only real place that fixes machines here or has anything like this

Heres the model #.. The serial is 0396... Which I am asuuming now from reading and researching, this is a model made in 03-1996????

The Hi/Lo switch is used to alter between the lo and high motor speeds. Most of the time you would use High for vacuuming floors, rugs, etc. and probably use Low when dusting, etc.

You may be able to find more information if you use the model name Triple Crown

Here's a manual for the newer canisters, the only real differences are the hose, tools and motor.

I called my local distributor and then drove up there (an hour drive).... They have such wonderful reviews, so I figured they might be able to help..(very sarcastic, there sales team apperently is um, yeah) and they said I still qualify for the life time service thing (she put it down i inherited it) and the service tech is coming saturday too look it over.. She said it sounds really good and all the filters look good. She also told me those Envirocare filters where the only off ones they could recommend, but highly suggested I spend $25 for the FQ ones..

I dunno what the life time service is, but we will see.. its free and im not obligated.

Congrats!  FQs are excellent machines.  I have that model as well, but my powerhead is chrome (plastic).  I think I bought it used for about $200 back in 2001.  I also have a lower-end one speed Princess.  I use the princess more often than my Majestic..  Be careful -- the "Lifetime Service" could very well be legitimate, but it could also be a trap for them trying to pressure you on the sale of a new model.  Keep in mind that there's very little that can go wrong inside of a FilterQueen.

LOL, I couldn't afford one if I tried.. Nor do I have the means.. I save and pay cash for stuff..

No I will.. They where very happy to help and didn;t seem like they wanted to sell me a new one
