Hi all i have a filter queen 70th anniversary and i dont know how to get to the motor and oil the bearings and give the motor a clean up but dont know how to get to the motor could some one help me thanks
To get at the motor on an FQ, there's three screws under the blower cap and three nuts behind the filter cone support that must be removed. That's pretty much universal across all Filter Queens.
Most of 'em I've seen, you won't find too much dust and fuzz in the motor, but if someone's used bogus filters, you might. (Some of the third-party ones work fine, some are terrible).
the cap on the top center of the vacuum. remove that and take out the screws underneath. now, take the motor housing off of the bin, remove the cone and filter disc
you should find 3 nuts. remove those and carefully take the top cover off of the motor unit
it's actually very simple
but be careful disassembling the motor. and the fan housing is not meant to be taken apart. be careful when removing and reinstalling the fan nut and taking the armature in and out. you dont want to damage the fan(s) or you'll have a very unhappy sounding FQ when you get it all back together
