Filter Queen 500

You have an extremely rare model 500. Made only in 1959. This is the last incarnation of the model 500 which began as "The Golden Monarch", a gold colored model in 1955. It was offered in chrome in addition to gold from 1956 through 1959. The gold model was replaced by the all tan model you have in 1959. In 1960, the model 500 was replaced by the model 33.

Your hose is not original, the original was a rubber hose with nylon braiding and a very large rubber 'cuff' at the machine coupling. There was also no bare floor tool. For floors, the felt pad (which mounted on the large upright post on the attachment crown) was used. One of the best ways to clean hard wood floors ever made, the Filter Queen felt pad can still be ordered today. It clipped onto the rug nozzle.

Dysonman, Thanks for the info! I actually have the felt pad, got it with some other vac attachments a few months ago! And I wondered what that post was for. My Princess 3 just has the floor brush, not the kind that takes the pad, but the one with bristles.

Cool to know I have another rare bird in my collection, and for only $10!

DOH! The model 500 was replaced by the model 31 with a cream colored dome assembly and a pinkish brown tank. Then the model 31 was replaced by the model 33 with both the dome assembly and tank finished in the same pinkish brown, but I'm not sure when the 33 came on the scene. It may have been the late 1970's.

Here's a model 31. I never knew about the all cream colored model 500 before, but seeing that picture you can get a better idea of how the color gradually evolved.
