Hi, what's your favourite straight suction floor head?
Mine is the Dyson Dual mode floor tool (with metal baseplate) It seals to carpets and hard floors very well.
I use it on my daily use vac (Numatic Henry Xtra)
It can seal to the wall with my Henry on low mode.

My favourite is

The Dyson Contact head designed for the DC08 and DC20. It is called contact head for a reason and it serves it's purpose really well! I also like the DC05 floor tool, and the DC19 flat out head which goes under washing machine and anything really! :)

Them contact heads are good parwaz, however the gaskets tend to split inside them. Have you seen the old dc01 ydk I got last night?

I always remember my first memories with the dc01, my aunty got one back in maybe 97-98 making me around 8 years old. It was the absolute model I was absolutly amazed by it as we had an electrolux contour. The I remember about 5 years on the flex broke where it entered the body and actually caught fire. They said I could have it so I took it home and my dad rewired it for me, I got some belts from currys and It went on for a while. I then remember the fan in the ametek motor unbolted its self and pretty much self destructed its self lol. The next one was a lady near my house had a dc01 out for the skip because the wand had snapped. My mum got me a wand for it off eBay and I spend my pocket money on a few parts for it. Front bumper, bin catch, and the hepa filter. I have some fantastic child good memories with the dc01. I will be completely honest they are not the best vacuum cleaner nor the most powerful but they make me feel like a child again. This was the start of my strange dyson obsession lol.

Old style Compact metal rug tool; but NOT the rug "shoe" adaptor (clear glitter thing that attachs to bottom of bare floor brush)

Here's a pic showing both tools

Fortunately both came with my red Tristar cxl when my parents bought it back in 1984-85[this post was last edited: 12/20/2014-13:40]

Lol Dysonabsolute, same here! So many people on this site had DC01's as childhood vacs :)
They and DC04's were EXTREMELY popular in our neighbour hood. When the DC04 was like a few years old since its launch in 1998, I remember going to a shop with my Aunty and on the way to the very local shop, we saw two DC01's being thrown out by two different households!

Now everyone has DC14, DC19, DC07, DC33, DC27, the new ball cylinders, Henry's, those orange tub Vax machines, and DC41's/40's :) there are still many DC04 users where I live, and a few DC01 owners too. Ah good times back then tho

Cool, but. I was referring to the 6131 Vax machines, however I seen some Vax 121's around car washing places though!

I love the Electrolux Dust Magnet Carpet/Floor Tool.

The design really offers effective surface cleaning on both carpets and bare floors. You can even leave the bare floor bristle strips in the down position to lightly sweep and groom delicate area rugs. The carbon fibre grey brush strips sweep floors really well, and the "rocking" suction channel adjusts nicely on carpets for both back strokes and foreward strokes. Here's a little video from Electrolux's German subsidiary AEG:
