I have five favorite Kirbys. No way I can pick just one. Older ones have style, and the newer ones have performance. Heritage 2 might be the one that combines the style with performance the best. Diamond G is not much to look at, but the thing IS the beast! I don't know,....is it possible to have just one?

My favorites are

1. Kirby Tradition because that was the current model when I started working for Kirby.

2. Classic Omega. I love the Rosewood trim. Beautiful when it's all buffed and shiney.

3. Sanitronic VII. First Kirby I ever traded in.

My favorite is the 562. My great grandparents had one and I always wanted to pull it out and play with it when I visited them. When they passed away we inherited it and used it for years. I even took it to college with me and half my dorm used it for 4 years.

I'm partial to a Heritage II as well. They're just beautiful machines.

Now I really love my Sentria 2. .

While the older 500 series Kirbys have an undeniable mid-century charm, I don't like the idea of shake-out bags. I prefer the convenience of replaceable filter bags (thus my disdain for modern bagless plastivacs). For that reason, I prefer Heritage and newer models. I really like my Heritage (1HD) with its sporty orange bag, but I find it annoying that it takes a different type of filter bags from my two G-series machines. I have the piece to retrofit it to take the newer type bags, but I'm waiting to do it until I've used up the last of the oval opening bags I have on hand. Of course, all that depends on whether I ever get the machine back from my girlfriend. She "borrowed" it about two years ago when her Oreck bit the dust.

All in all, I prefer my G5 and G6 (I like them equally) for their power and the ease of use provided by the Tech Drive.

Any Kirby before the Classic!

I love the OLD Kirbys. At least in my experience they are much more of a pleasure to use. They clean just as well as the new Kirbys and are less complex to work on in general. The only negative is the poor filtration of the shake-out bag but that doesn't bother me. I don't have allergies, and you can actually dispose of dirt from these bags in a clean manner. Shake the bag after turning it on for a second, and most of the dust will come out without you having to do much else. Not to mention that they are much LIGHTER. I also think that they LOOK nicer, but that is purely opinion!

Can't choose!

From a collecters perspective, I too prefer the smaller 500 models. I like my 509, 560, and D80 equally. My Legend II is what I enjoy using the most and is used weekly. The 509 and D80 are now fully restored. The 560 and Legend II are Goodwill Outlet store finds just needed a fluff and buff. The Legend came with all of the attachments, caddy, and Zip Brush. I added the matching Reno kit and sander to complete it.

My favorite Kirbys

My favorites are a Kirby Heritage, Heritage 84 and a G4. My most favorite is a Kirby Heritage II. BEAUTIFUL machines! One is missing the safety switch. Also, the wheels I have aren't staying on.

I love all Kirby's. I own a 513, Sanitronic VII, Classic Omega, Tradition, G5, and Ultimate G Diamond Edition. I love them all, but if I had to choose I would have to say the Tradition. I love the Classic-Tradition models although I love the Sanitronic models too. I sold Kirby's during the Sentria II era and performance wise that is my favorite next to the Diamond Edition. I really want to take the Avalir for a spin.
