Well guys.........Mine is the Tradition.....I know, I know....it wasn't considered to be the best by most....but it's my favorite because it's blue.....

My other favorite is model 514....because it's the model I grew up with....and no....I was not born in 1954!!! LOL

Actually, I love them all....also!

I'd have to say the Heritage 1, Heritage 2, Heritage 2 Legend, and Legend 2.
Mainly because these Kirby's offer the very best in every conceivible attachment ever devised by Kirby.
Starting with the Heritage 1 you could get the Hair Clipper, the Handy Butler, Rug Renovator, Miracle Head,Inflator, Waxer, ect. which would all work with any of these Kirby's as their Safety Switch was/is the same for all.
Not to mention the avalibility of your choice of the regular Sani Emptor, or Mini Emptor, with the redesigned papaer bag system.
Plus, these Kirby's used 2 speed motor, and the 4 row brush roll, that not only grooms the carpet and raises the nap better than a 2 row,,,it also helps to pull the Kirby along, making it easier to push.
Not only that but Kirby even made avalible a smaller 500 series Rug Nozzle, for more concentrated cleaning, or for anyone that prefered the smaller head Kirby.
Plus, you had the choice of the 3 different rug nozzles,,the Classic series large bell shaped nozzle, the Heritage 2, airplane wing shaped nozzle head, or the 500 series small head.
What more could a person ask?
The handle of the Heritage/Legend machines is even designed to be user friendly.

Altho i will always love the Classic series, and the Tradition for their regal look and color (especially when new, or Factory Rebuilt),,the 2 row brush roll does make these machines very hard to use,,especially on thick heavy carpet. Imho of course.

Ask any older person that bought or owned a Classic series Kirby back in the day,,,the first thing they will say is, IT WAS SO HARD TO PUSH!

If you own a Classic or 500 series that is hard to push, put a 4 row brush roll in the nozzle,,,you will like it much better.
Imho, of course. To each his own!

My Favorite Kirbys Before 1980

My parents had a Classic III 2-CB from 1978 to 1994, as did my paternal grandparents from 1977 to 1998, which meant I grew up seeing that model. Other pre-1980 Kirby models I like are the very first Tradition 3-CBs with their metal fans and locking headlight caps.

Also: 515 (first Kirby with new 10-blade metal fan); 516 (first significantly-updated model); 560 (first with new design belt lifter); the Sanitronic 562 (first with the Sani-Scraper and Sani-Pocket on bag); the Dual Sanitronic 50 (first with two-speed motor); and the Classic 1-CR (first Kirby with 16" wide nozzle and Shag King)

Its about impossible for me to narrow it down to one Kirby-A favorite I remember when growing up is the Kirby My Mom and Dad bought from a DTD salesman(Van campaign)who was knocking doors that day-it was in 1951-can't remember the model.Another would be the 1C-they just looked so cool.Just about got one-but it got away! The Kirby salesperson was trying to get one as a trade in from a customer for me.the owner would not give it up.Still lookn-and for the 1951 model.Remember it was rebuilt when my Dad used it to spray varnish on wall paneling in the home they were remodeling when the machine was bought-My Mom said she was furious at Dad for doing that---so Dad took the machine to Kirby-they lived in Ohio at the time and he bought an air compressor from Sears for future spraying jobs
the present favorite is the Sentria-mine reproduced-now I have 3!!

Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition

My favorite is my Ultimate G Diamond Edition, which I bought new in box off Ebay a few years ago. It's one cleaner I won't ever part with!

Favorites

That's like asking which one of your children you love the most.

Of what I own--Omega then Tradition

Of what I don't own--D-80

I really have a few favorites of the Kirby family... Heritage and Heritage II, and then the Sanitronics. It's hard to decide!

Favorite Pre-1980 Kirbys

Mine would be the D-50, Classic III, and anything in the 500 series. These are actually my favorites of ALL Kirbys, not just pre-1980 (although they ARE all pre-1980 machines!).

Favorite Kirby (pre-1980)

I'd have to say would be the elusive "R" series. I only have one, incomplete. It's the first (and last) Kirby to date with the switch-in-the-handle!

Kirby

D-50, D-80 and Classic I. Love the perfomance and sound of teh Sanitronics, and love the feel and growl of the Classic. It's such a beast. It's so ugly it's cool to look at.

Fav Vac is...

The Tradition...this is the first model I collected, I went to a house sale looking for a small log burner and it had sold...on the way out near the door was this big shiny vac with loads of boxes and instructions & guarantees, handy butler & everything..marked up for £30 quid, I thought well for that I can take it home & try it and then sell it on fleebay later!! I searched on the web for spare & parts etc and up came classic appliances club (AW) & the VCCC, ...Oh my, another world out there and have been hooked ever since...the bug got me!!!...LOl ...135 vacs and 87 washers later!!!.....

I have the original bag bug I much prefer the big solid replacement!!! cheers, Mike...

My Favorite Kirby is

The Model 561. It is the first Kirby that I ever had and still have. But since most all people call me the Kirby Kid, I guess I could say I love all Kirby's big and small! I really like the color of the Tradition, it is so regal looking in it's Deep Blue (however it is the most gutless Kirby's of all that I have)As soon as I change it over to the miniemptor or I could leave it as a shake out bag.. That would work. anyway I love them all....
