Let me just start out by saying that the hoover convertibles have done an AMAZING job at setting the commercial standard for today's hoover guardsman and professional series vacuums. But what I wanted to know is what is your favorite hoover convertible (or decade) model? My favorite is the 1985 Hoover Custom Convertible model u4395.

I have not one favorite Convertible,

but three! First, it has to be the Model 70 which was introduced the year that I was born. Next, the first Convertible that I had a "crush" on (if one can actually have a crush on a machine!), the 1070. And finally, another personal favorite, the U4059.

Favorite Convertible

I have met very few convertibles I haven't liked, but I suppose my all time favorite model is the green/white U4127.....

Everyone Has Their Favorites

Here is mine. The 65 was the first in about 1957. The color was beautiful but the top warped. A childhood friend of mine's mother had a brand new 65 with the attachments. She also had a mid 50's Frigidaire washer and dryer. Wow. But they didn't perfect these machines until later in the series. Here is one of my favorites. The Model 69. As Charlie W. says - everyone should have a Model 69 :-)

Hoover

Mine was the 1020. My parents replaced our old GE from 1948 when they got married with this model.

It was such a breeze to use after that old GE.

Great machine. My brother got it when they died.

My favorite Convertibles would include the 65 because it was the first, 32-first one I ever ran, 70, 714, 719, 1060-first square hood deluxe, and the 1070. These are in my collection. I also like the 33, 66, and 69.

I wish Hoover kept making Convertibles like the ones that used to be sold at K-mart, Montgomery Ward, Sears, etc.

Why were the Convertibles discontinued if they clean very good?

I love my U4395 as well, and I've always had a thing for the 1070 model. The 1070 was the first vacuum I can remember being fascinated with when I was young. I use my U4395 almost every day now!

Would like to purchase late 1950's pink convertible

Where can a 1950's pink convertible with lamp be purchased? I like that the convertibles are versatile and easy to push (unlike today's vacs).

@vacuumkid47,

Just so you know, the vacuum in 'Who's minding the store?' Was a Hoover Convertible model 69!

GrandCentral, you might prefer a newer model than a late 1950s convertible, the hoods on those early Convertibles were prone to warping and self-destructing under the heat of the motor. A 1960s model looks very similar, and is free from most of the defects that plagued early models. Your best bet might be eBay. Good luck!
