Picked up a Fantom Cyclone XT a couple of months ago at a thrift store for $10, pretty decent shape, finally got around to testing it and it worked fine.
I've had pretty poor luck with the Cyclone XTs, only got one other mint condition one working. We bought one on clearance at Target years ago for $120. Died right around the time Fantom went bankrupt and was practically new. So we went to Target because it was under warranty so they gave us a giftcard for the amount then since it was winter and the vac was in the car they told us just to dispose of it they didn't want it. I kept it eventually found the motor it needed and fixed it. Then the circuit board that turns the brush roller on died. So I resoldered that and it has basically been sitting in the basement ever since. Looks new, works fine.
I had another Cyclone XT I picked up for $15 but sold to a lady I worked with somewhere between then and now. I also garbage picked one that was missing the cord which I never tampered with.
So this is the only other totally functional Cyclone XT I've had since then.
I've got a boatload of Thunders and varients (and stilll use one regularly to vacuum, as do my parents and sister). Got a few Furys (my uncle still uses one), and a couple of Wildcats and Lightnings.
Fortunately they're not that uncommon around here since they first imported them through Buffalo so they unloaded all the refurbs after the bankruptcy locally. I'll still see one every other month and know people besides me that still use one.
