Eureka Whirlwind Self Propelled

Those cost me a virtual fortune. We sold them new in my vacuum store. No one maintains them correctly and they also clog almost immediately. I had to give people their money back on almost every one I sold. And then what do I do with a filthy vacuum that people hate? They don't make good daily drivers for the public.

The bad reputation these have and the history is part of why I collect these! Thanks for sharing a perspective as someone in the profession. I’m a repair technician for Aerus and a collector as well so I enjoy the tedious work it takes to keep this machine looking great and functional.

Great find!

I got my first real Victory last week(have had 2 BOL "boss power/lite" variants"), a red Enviro Vac. Not to sidetrack but I ordered a brushroll to replace the ruined original, and it turns out to be for a 15" Bravo and not a Victory as advertised. So if anyone wants a NOS 15" BRAVO brushroll, email me.

It is my favorite color and style, and would love to get the red Whirlwind to match it.

Pic is how I found it, I don't have a good pic of it now on hand.

Right back at ya! I owned that same model at one point some years back. Since it was bagged it definitely sported more airflow. I wish I still owned it. Digging that burgundy color

The red Eureka whirlwind is very rare because Dyson forced them to stop producing it, as it infringed on their patent on the shroud within the dual cyclone filtration system.

I never thought I would ever cross paths with one of these Ultra Whirlwinds! I purchased this NOS without a box. It’s in incredible shape. Thank you for that information, that’s very interesting! It’s neat to watch this cyclonic system work.

It looks like the base for that red Ultra Whirlwind is identical to the later bagged SmartVac upright - with the same brush roll off switch and height adjustment dial.

I seen this thread and had to get this monstrosity out and use it! I always like the victory vacuums, they weren't the best but I remember when they first came out and I thought the design was so unusual. Practically the bagged one is better, but the less successful models can be fun to use and collect too.

I agree with some of the others here, I definitely have a soft spot for these old Victory Whirlwinds. If I wanted to use a Whirlwind personally, the Sanitaire version would be my pick. But honestly, these are one of the worst bagless designs that I've ever used. I'd MUCH rather use the bagged versions instead.
