Eureka Self-Proplelled ESP 5060 F

Hello fellow vacuum collecters! Well today was garage sale day in my neighborhood and something caught my eye. It was a blue Eureka Self-Propelled ESP vacuum and of course i love these types of vacuums so much i bought it for $10. I wanted to make sure it worked first before i bought so i asked the lady who sold it to me to turn it on and vacuum with it. So she vacuumed a carpet that was there and it worked fine so i bought it. I went home and vacuumed my room with it but i noticed it started to make a noise like when you vacuum up pieces of crumbs or wood or something but it made that noise for a really long time and then the motor sound got lower but I'm pretty sure i didn't vacuum anything bad up though so i turned it off. Any thoughts on why this happened?? PS: i cleaned under the vacuum removing all the dirt it it had in there and i put in a new bag. And sorry i couldn't get any pics up. My computer doesn't let me. Thanks!!

Check the brush roll

I have restored several eureka s and one sanitaire 887,remove the brush roll I assume it is a vibra groomer 2 and see if it rotates freely,most likely the bushings or bearings are loaded with dirt and hair.Clean and lubricate and change the brush strips.Next remove the motor and inspect the fan and see if it is cracked if so replace. All the info.you need is on utube.

Ok thank you! I just removed the brushroll (yes it's a Vibra groomer II), took out all the dirt and hair that was left on it from the previous owner, cleaned under, and that was it! I also noticed that when i was cleaning it a piece if wood fell from around the area where the brushroll was so i'm pretty sure that was the problem. But thanks for your help too! I'm sooooooo loving this machine right now!!

Nice find, They're really nice vacs, fun to use. I think the self propelling also works a little smoother than it does on my Hoovers

Yeah this vacuum really suprised me for its great job in cleaning and the self propelled is awesome for its age!! It sounds just like my grammas Sanitaire! Yup, this one's a keeper. I'm a happy camper!! I'll put up a link for a Youtube video of it later so you guys can see it in action.

Also would any of you guys know what kind of light bulb this machine uses? Thanks. And how old do you guys think it would be??
