Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team Model 1255

Here is a 1977 print advertisement being sold on eBay (I have no connection to the seller....honest!)......it's for the famous low end Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team canister Model 1255. Once Eureka realized that their new power nozzles were performing very well, they added one onto their low end Princess canister body. In the 1974 results of vacuum testing at Consumer Reports, this little vac ended up at the top of the ratings as a "Best Buy", outperforming many other canisters that cost twice the price....

Do any citizens of Vacuumland own one of these little gems?

well I own one gifted to me from our very own Keith from St. Louis and I also now have the even lower end to it which was the lowest of low end Princess aka turtle back princess with the same power nozzle gifted to me by Jason. I might have pics of it. I know Jason has an ad for it

Wow, that brings back a memory.
A neighbor lady had the red Eureka with the red PN when i was a kid, in the mid 1970s. Would have been 1975-76.
I was facinated with it, and she had heavy long thick shag carpet. She would pay me a couple of bucks to come over and do her vacuuming, and i was thrilled!

That little Eureka was an EXCELLENT machine, and performed very well on that long shag. Her house was large, and it took all day to vacuum every inch, stairs and all. That Eureka never missed a beat.
I remember The neighbor lady even had a seperate wire type rack for holding/displaying the attachments.
Sure was a great little vacuum.

Hey Brian! Thanks for that "trip down memory lane"!

Quite an amazing little Eureka for the money. I myself remember several wire attachment organizers offered as options on the official Eureka Williams Order Sheets you got with their vacuums. Though I never saw one in real life, I'd love to own one of those wall-mounted tool racks right now. I know that Rubbermaid or some company offered wire vac tool racks up to about a decade ago, but now even the central vac retailers only offer a mesh bag to hold all the tools.

One problem I have always experienced with Eureka Princesses: the single wheel in the front seems to not be enough to hold the weight of the front of the square canister....I've often experienced a corner nose-diving to the carpet as you pulled on the hose....a pair of wheels in the front might have worked better...:-(

I don't have a Eureka in my collection, but I have a Beaumark from 1985 that looks identical to the Eureka in your ad. I was recently thinking of putting it up for sale, but I like it too much to part with it yet

Hey there fellow Canadian Cleaner-phile Bob!!!!

Beeeyoootiful Beaumark there - made right here in Canada not far away in Kitchener Ontario!

Though very similar, the 2 canister bodies are different: the Beaumark is a Sweet Sixteen Series 1600 body whereas the red 1255 uses a Princess Series 700 body (it's a bit shorter and used Style "H" bags.....) I think yours is more of a match to the harvest gold Eureka Roto-Matic Model 1240, if I am not mistaken. (The original Power Team line up was 1240, 1260 and 1280 if I am not mistaken - they added the 1255 later on).

Wonderful debut of power nozzle canister vacs from Eureka Williams! I've said it before and I'll say it again - Sweden's Electrolux knew what they were doing when they bought Eureka Williams in 1974 and added the American company to their world-wide international line-up of vac companies.....

Glad you have not sold it!

I've got a "princess" just like the 1246 with powerhead but it's in blue. I haven't had it out in a long time. Maybe I'll have to unpack it and post some pics.

I had the 1255 and it was a great cleaner.I picked it up in a thrift store in pristine condition for $5. most of what it had was scuffing which was removed with a magic eraser. i traded it for a couple of machines almost 2 yrs ago and now sad that I did.

Is that an ad for the model 1246, or the actual specification sheet? If so, I'd love to see the other side! (I recently tried downloading a number of Eureka canister spec sheets from automaticephemera.com, but neither my smart phone nor my Kindle will let me view them!)

Hey there Pete! Your red Viking almost matches the cool sofa!

You can see that this is from a later time period than the original 1973 Eurekas/Vikings/Baycrests//JCPenneys/Wards....(whew....that was a mouthful!). The Tool Pak is designed to take the later bare floor brush with integrated plastic neck.

All of the power head canisters on here look wonderful!!

Does anyone what kind of bag fits in that Eureka RotoMatic 1246 that's in the ad on this thread. That looks like a miniscule suction unit!!
