Eureka Gold CRown Cannister

A bit more looking and all 3 have gold trim against a paint scheme of soft green and cream. The Mobilaire ( the canned ham) has a 50th Anniversary sticker on it so I'm thinking they are all from 1957? The Rotomatic i got at an antique shop near Rogers and the other 2 from ebay back when things were cheaper. Need a dusting brush and crevice tool still (rotomatic came with just the hose so like good siblings, they have to share).
Neil - love to have you visit - drop me line if you're coming to the farm.
Cheers to both,
Tom

Just received my Singer Rotomatic, in better shape than the pictures on ebay. But I am looking forward to cleaning it up and improving its looks!

Ben and Greg

Ben , The little white upholstery nozzle is actually a Singer nozzle for a later model. There is a brown upholstery nozzle on ebay right now in case you want to make your C-1 complete. But save that white nozzle, you never know when you'll get a later model Singer canister.

Greg, The hose on your vacuum is rubber/vinyl! I've only seen the cloth covered hoses for that particular model. Of course they now leak air so I'm sure yours is better.

Nice Super Rotomatics everyone. I do have the tattered Golden Crown, well most of it anyway that I was once going to get rid of until I turned it on to clean and decided it worked too well to get rid of so back in the collection it went :-)

Thanks for the info! But can you provide a link to that nozzle on ebay? I would appreciate it. I have to admit, the vacuum itself is in great shape, even the woven hose is still functional and looks good too. But all the tools are in very poor shape, the carpet nozzle needs a new metal plate for the bottom, the dusting brush needs new bristles,  so does the bare floor brush, and the crevise tool was broke in half when I opened the box!

Marty!

My Singer book talks about the new lightweight vinyl hose. Even the Eureka POD that pops up now and then talks about the vinyl hose
How about a picture of your singer version in it's hassock?

Ben, your Singer cleaned up nice. You can use brushes off any Eureka tool and the bottom plate from any Eureka rug nozzle will work as well. I don't know how to put a link here ( I'm going to try ) but it's listed as Vintage Vacuum Mini Brush Tool.

Greg, that vacuum is in storage at the moment. I don't have the room here in PS to keep displayed. it will get switched out with one of the vacuums here so I can use it for awhile. Don't know when though.

Brian, this is the model you're looking for the 260C canadian ? It looks worse in the pic than it actually is

Pete - your 260C is really close, but it is not the exact version I grew up with. The hose and hose port cover are an exact match, but the bag on my childhood Eureka had the vertical rectangle graphic that Tom's Automatic has. Can't tell if Tom's bag is green or blue, but our blue one had that graphic.

Always wondered how they shipped these Eureka uprights.....in the 1970's they split the handle in two pieces and so the whole vac assembly fit in a small square box. But these older Eurekas had a single piece handle.....wonder if the handle came in a separate box.....hmmmmmm.....

brian....

prehaps mine is the one......the bag is not orginal....but everything else is

a quick story of the Grey/yellow rotomatic on ebay this week

I'm sure that everyone saw the rotomatics on ebay this week. The grey/yellow sold for $202.50. I emailed the seller and ask him if he ever found another like it to please email me.

He was on his way home and happened to be at a stoplight and saw a man put that hassock out at the curb with a free sign! He parked

and went over to look at it and there was the rotomatic in it! He put it into his trunk and the rest was history! I would never find

anything that nice driving home!!

brian....

that cord is orginal......and its a model 260, but i cant remember the letter off the top of my crown...=)

Gary!!!! Nice Roto-Matic, buddy!!!

Jason - now I know that we had a 260 of some sort! :-) I thought the cord looked like a replacement because it seems so much darker than the blue base of the vac. I remember our Eureka Automatic 260 had a turquoise/aqua electric cord that was very close in colour to the blue on the rest of machine and on the attachments. But I guess the vinyl could get discoloured with the years.....

I'm now convinced that our 260 was circa 1958/1959 (the year I was born). It was not green with gold accents like the 1957 Golden Anniversary edition, and yet it was before the production of the blue bags with the letters for E.U.R.E.K.A. emblazoned in large letters down the front of the bag. Ours had the little vertical rectangle up at the top - similar to earlier Eureka uprights.

Thanks again for that great display of the 3 260's!!! :-)
