Anybody know of the whereabouts of a good Gold Crown? New to this forum and want to expand my collection. Had one once and gave it away (..silly me!!)
Love this model. Remember it from a relative when I was a kid.

Looking for a Golden Crown?

You and I both!  I too have fond memories of it from my childhood.  I would love to add one to my collection but in all my hunting around I haven't come across one yet.   I have a hunch it would take some real sweet-talking and probably a lot of something else as well to get one of the few collectors here who have one to let theirs go.  I know if I had one I would be loathe to part with it!

Mine is Not a Golden Crown...But Close...

Same machine...a Super Roto-Matic...chrome dome instead of gold "guild". It has great suction.

that is

a beautiful vacuum....i like the pale yellow colour.

When I was a child, I saw that my moms friend had this exact vacuum.I used to ask every time we would vizit if I could take the Eureka and vacuum her house!

btw

that vac will pull on the suction guage the very same as a filter queen.

Super Rotomatic!

I am such a fan of the Rotomatics! The picture of that Yellow is beautiful! I've never seen one that color, its fantastic! I have the 2 rotomatics, the original my mother got for christmas and the green Eureka I bought off of ebay that I want to refurbish.

Here is mine..

Bought Oct 10 1962 by my kindergarten teacher and friend for the rest of her life, Mrs Vera Mitchum, I bought this and several other items at her estate sale.

2 years ago when...

was working at my vac shop an elderly lady came in with the exact vacuum as above, but blue. She told me that she bought her Eureka from the local Woodwards department store new in 1967, and paid $99 for it. She has had it ever since and has been her only vacuum....Anyways...it had the original hose on it so I told her to leave me with the vacuum a few days.

I was able to fit a new hose and I had a new still in the plastic bag , cloth filter for the inside. Now with the new hose and cloth filter, I tested it out on the suction guage , it pulled a whopping 90. This was the same as an older Filterqueen.

So the lady returned to the vac shop in a few days and I gave her a quick demo of her newly tuned 1967 Eureka... she was amazed,, and soooo happy.

Off she went.

Then... about 2weeks later, she came back to the vac shop and told me that the Filter queen guys were in town and they went to her house to give her a demo of the new FQ. She allowed them in , and after the demo , the FQ guys were putting the pressure on her to buy. She bluntly told them to GET OUT, and take your FQ with you. MY 1967 Eureka will suck the dirt right out of your FQ!.

I guess they left immediately..lolo

I laughed when she shared this story with me.

She said that when she now vacuums with her eureka it actually lifts the carpet up from the suction, and really pulls out the dirt, and she is very happy.

That was my favourite customer in the two years that I worked in a vac shop.
