Eureka Cordwinder Question????

Has anyone ever taken apart the cord winder on a Eureka Roto-Matic Power Team canister? The male end is separating from the cord. I'd rather install a new cord than a new plug.

When I had the vacuum apart, I tried to figure it out. However, I couldn't quite tell how how open up the cord winder.

DON'T !!
Without understanding that the spring under tension is the most dangerous part of the vac and having somewhat advanced mechanical skills.As a general rule the Elux 1205 and newer winders are the most repairable/replaceable.May be easier to find a good part vac than open this one.If plug is replaced on a winder I like tying a loose knot at plug to keep if from coming off and cord going inside.

I've repaired the cord winder on an Electrolux Model L, but it easily came apart. I think this Eureka cord winder is basically designed to be replaced and not repaired. Its main parts are riveted together, so I'm just going to leave it alone.

I have a green RotoMatic canister 1784B. It had an electric issue a little over a year ago and I was able to find a winder from Tom Gasko for it. According to my local vacuum shop and some others and my own inspection the Eureka winder is all riveted together and not repairable on this model. Ashame because it was all metal and winder function great, just cord needed replacing. Best of luck securing a replacement!!!
