Eureka beater bar stuck?

I just got a used Eureka bagless SA3011 vacuum. The sign said it needed a new belt. I bought a new belt. The new belt is exactly the same size (W) as the one on the vac and the one on the vac is not broken or stretched. I tried both the old and new ones and they are the same. It seems loose when I put it on. Maybe because of the tensioner that presses down on part of the belt and helps hold the belt in place. However, when I turn the vac on, the belt does not move. It is not seem to be burning either. When it is off and I spin the beater bar, there seems to be a lot of friction but it seems to be on right. How can I fix it?

It sounds

Like the end cap is seizing up this may be due to debris that made it's way under the cap over time and it may have deformed or melted the plastic on the end due to friction. Worst case scenario - replace the brushroll.

Hello Gurubandhu,

Is your Eureka an Airspeed or a Lightspeed? I can’t find that model number?? The reason I ask is Eureka has brushroll replacements, but they are rather pricey.

Try brushroll.com for USA made, high quality replacement brushrolls.. they will be a fourth the price as I think I saw most for Eureka’s are only $5.99 on this site. Eureka sells them for about $20 bucks.

I would try to replace the brushroll and see, because I don’t know of much else personally that would stop it from rotating.

Slack in belt.

I checked the beater bar and it spins freely on both ends. I looked at it again and this is what I found. Maybe because of the tensioner that presses down on part of the belt and helps hold the belt in place. However, when I turn the vac on, the belt does not move. It is not seem to be burning either. I looked at the belt when it was on and it is not touching the spindle that comes from the motor. I even touched the spindle when it was running and the spindle rotated but the belt did not. Since this is the right belt for the vacuum, what is wrong? The belt looks too big or it seems like more tension is needed. How can I fix it?
