Modern flair on my eureka 1945B
LED Bulb, this is my first Eureka upright.. I have to say I was brought up around Hoover convertibles and concepts... But I think I like this vacuum better than any of them.. So smooth.. Quiet motor and love the growly sound of the VGII brushroll. I love the dial a nap too. Not too crazy about the plastic handle.. But Works perfectly on my hi pile carpet.. This one is a keeper.. Found on CL.. Very good condition..

I Found One Just Like That At A Thrift Shop!!!

They wanted $20, I paid $12 lol. It also came with a full set of attachments! The Vibra-Groomer II does work well, but I think you'll find that if you swap that one out for the Vibra-Groomer I (the Top-Of-The-Line) Eureka/Sanitaire brushroll with the stuff bristles & full beaterbar, that you'll be even more impressed with it. Its also a helix-shape allowing for more airflow.

My family was always a Hoover family too. We had some metal-based convertibles, plastic-based convertibles, Dial-A-Matics, Concepts, Commercial model's, Elites, etc. They were always great.

These 1900 Series uprights were so simple - lightweight, effective and easy to maintain. One of the key secrets to their deep cleaning ability: the top-fill F&G dust bag. Until Hoover caved in and finally introduced their Click and Clean top fill dust bag in the late 1970's, Eureka uprights often outperformed its Hoover competitors like the Convertible.

Above-the-floor cleaning with these Eurekas (using a pan converter set-up) is pretty wimpy - the suction is not that strong. But for light dusting of furniture and bare floors, they were adequate. Eureka's classic upholstery nozzle always did a great job on fabrics, drapes and car interiors - even with low suction. Just goes to show you: you don't need a high powered motor to deep clean carpets with a classic "fan-first" upright.

I'm gonna upfit this vac with the sanitaire ST fill tube so I can use the ST synthetic bags. Just wondering, when using f&g bags as the bag clogs over time and tightens, does it constrict the paper fill tube? Just wondering if that happens of has ever happened.

Conversion tube

Andy, let me know if you can find the conversion tube for the ST bags anywhwere. I've asked my vac shop and couldn't find any available. I have one that's converted and love it. Thanks!

I love these simple little hard working machines, durable, lightweight and not even a rough sound.

In all the years I've replaced full F&G bags, I have never encountered a situation where the paper fill tube constricts to the point of blocking the movement of air and dirt. When you release the handle from it's upright "stored" position, the heavy filled bottom of the F&G dust bag actually pulls the bag downward and away from the paper fill tube which is closer to the handle. Eureka's outer bags, especially their deluxe "box top" bags, provided plenty of space for the inner dust bag to expand. But...it's important not to let the dirt fill above the dotted line printed on the bag - this ensures that there is enough room at the top of the bag to let the air filter out the top. You can certainly pack dirt about a foot high at the bottom of the bag before changing it.

I found one on evacuumstore.com I even emailed them to check the status of my order and they said they were waiting to receive it directly from sanitaire. Haven't gotten it yet..I placed the order a week ago today 12/8

Makes sense.. Haha well I've never owned a eureka before, but the bag I have in it is not even full but feels firm when inflated and was curious about constriction of the bag tube against the handle but I guess if that happened the bag wouldn't inflate..

Love mine

When I think of a vacuum cleaner in my head, I think of a basic Eureka upright like these. Overall, I'd say it's my second favorite upright design. The Hoover Dial-A-Matic/Panasonic being the first. But definitely these are my favorite direct air vacuums.
