So, I have been using my Eureka 1934A for a few days now as my current daily driver. I noticed that it wasn't picking up very well, and I couldn't imagine why because I had just changed the bag and belt for the youtube video I made of it a few months ago. The first thing is that it was super easy to push.... it's always been easy, but now it just floated over the carpet like it was a feather. I looked at the fan blades and felt them with my finger and they were fine. The bag was barely inflating and the machine was behaving like my Hoover Convertible always does.... it was kicking cat litter out at my feet and when I went to run over a piece of tissue (I washed a tissue by mistake and got little pieces all over the carpet), it just spit it back on the floor..... I ran over the same piece about 9 times and it just would not "suck up"! I didn't get suspicious with the bag not inflating much because I know when you change a bag on a soft bagged vacuum they are softer than they are after they've been used a bit and the pores start to clog.... but I took the bag off just to have a look... "knowing" I wasn't going to find anything! I did, however, find something! When I made the video, I vacuumed up a bunch of paper shreddings, and they clogged the machine fill tube and the paper bag fill tube on the F and G bag! There was about 2 cups of paper, along with a lot of dust and cat hair that was cutting off airflow to the bag! No wonder I wasn't getting any suction!
So, I cleaned it out.... then I thought I'd wax it because it had been a while and I'd just used Meguires plastic polish on the Hoover Convertible and Miele Plus and it really shined them up. I used to use car was on the plastic, but I got some plastic polish for the bagless Dirt Bins to see if I could get them a little clearer.... Anyway, I took her for a test spin, and I'm glad to say, she's back to doing what she does best.... gently and elegantly grooming and cleaning the carpet with grace and style. The bag inflates normally, and I can feel the seal to the carpet now! And, the dirt just races in! So nice to hear the sand by the front door jumping up the paper fill tube again! I'm glad to have it back working right, it really is a fun vacuum.... I just can't believe that I did this... me, someone who knows about vacuums and loves them as I do, had a clog and didn't even realize it! If someone else did this who didn't know/care about vacuums, I'd chuckle.... now I've been humbled! Anyone else have a similar experience?
