rating plate

the rating plate is stamped into the plastic body of the cleaner the main body splits in half to get at the motor rather like some of the 70s hoover cylinders there is a blower port under the grill on the top the 700 watt motor gives exellent suction and is very quiet the only thing letting it down is the plastic wands

I Wish!!!

Some of those European machines would show up over here! I would wire up a 240 volt outlet just so I could use it!!!

ETA 2400

I owned this kind of vacuum about 10 years ago but it was with cord rewinder. The funniest thing is that there is excactly the same 3 pin hose connection than european electroluxes and the cord was the same than electroluxes too=) so there must be something to do with electrolux production..

Electrolux fitting

Although the fitting is the same size as the Electrolux, the hose fittings are not actually made by Electrolux. The same thing happened later on with Vax. From what I gather, the design was not a copyright and therefore was free for anyone to duplicate, I suppose in the same way that a push-fit tube could be. My suggestion would be that the Electrolux fitting was highly desirable by some manufacturers as being one which was robust and successful.

Anthony, as far as I am aware, ETA were a budget catalogue exclusive brand here in the UK (along the same lines as Swan, Proaction, Rotel, Baad, M-Tech etc).

Eta

This brand used to be sold in Argos in the 80s as their budget machine there were 4 different models I think the most basic being £39.99 with a 650 watt motor and a cloth bag. I remember my neighbor having one when I was a kid. I loved it at the time and it was so quiet as well. I remember the floor tool being the same as some Phillips models at the time as well.
Can't remember the model number of the neighbours one but i remember it being quite big no cord rewind and the switch on the back was a big rocker switch
Would love to find another one after all these years

ETA

it reminds me more of the Hoover cylinders the way it splits in half its even got the metal brackets holding the two halves together as i said its a powerfull machine but also very quiet although gettin g the grill of the top to get at the blower port is a bit if a pain woudnt want to do it to often for fear of breaking somthing .I suspect the hose end has had a bit sawn off at some point it seems a bit short to me also the plastic wands are not good i tried it with some Electrolux metal ones itfeels so much better heres a fiew more pictures first one is the short hose end
