This vacuum is very old canister it belonged to grandmother i have all the attachments and everything works great has good suction wondering if anyone knows anything about these machines ELGIN STANDARD

Without seeing a picture, as I recall, the Elgin was a private labeled vacuum (I'm thinking made by Cadillac) sold in vac shops. Please post a pic so I can be sure and I'll give you more information on it.

Apex ??
I think I have seen these as an Apex.Universal,Apex and Cadillac had many private labels including President,Pontiac,Zenith and more.Maybe we could start a list of known names and models.As above pictures are helpful here.In any case a good 'stovepipe with a motor in it' vacuum.
