Help Support VacuumLand:

Hey thanks for giving this thread a revive!
Havent used my Epic 6000, which still remains as my only lux, in a while. I have it stored away, as ive been running out of room.

I think the Silverado......

......is the best built of all of the more modern Luxes. That machine reissued with a modern feature set would be the best move Aerus could make.

That said, I find a LOT to like in the more recent machines. I really like my Guardian canister, despite the HEPA issue it is featured in every other way I find desirable. The speed control on the suction is ideal for those specialized jobs I do, and I also like it as a deep cleaner for the carpet. While it is louder, I'm not bothered so much by that issue.

But my true modern favorite (and I know that canisters was intended for the thread) isn't a canister - it's the Guardian upright. I LOVE the convenience of the Lux upright as a daily machine, and have always pined for a more powerful version of the now well known Lux design. And now I have it

I find ANY canister to be somewhat cumbersome to work with. I use my Guardian canister for thorough deep cleaning when I really want to work the carpet, and for specialized jobs above floor. I also use a Super J for some of those jobs as well. But I find the Guardian upright is an excellent easy-to-use machine - and with the newer, more powerful motor I'm not missing too much in terms of at-the-floor cleaning effectiveness vs. the canister. It REALLY lifts the nap, and I take particular notice of how it handles traffic areas. When it comes to 'The Lux I've Always Wanted" - next to a modern Silverado type the Guardian Upright really is appreciated here.

<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">I hope to buy the new Guardian Platinum soon.

I love my Aerus Lux Gaurdian Platinum!

It is my favorite tank/canister. But it still runs a close race to my Mom's old Automatic G. I just love that vacuum!!

I like both my Silverado Deluxe 1505 and my Ultralux LX 1521, but because the Ultralux had a lighted L-shaped power nozzle and the Sidekick accessory I'd have to say it has the winning edge.

"any of the metal canisters"

They are all great but with the plastic body tank such as in reply 28 you will have LESS weight,MORE filtration and SAME type hose and attachments.

my favorite

I'm not even sure what the official model of this was, but my favorite machine after 1980 would have to be the 2100, I think it may have also been called the advantage. Also the Embassador models. The plastic case is almost exactly the same as the current Aerus classic but they use a two stage motor instead of the current one stage.

mine would be the Epic 6000 as well...I like the metal wand/sheath and the power nozzle has a light...I own this model...

I would also love to find the Ultralux, since that has a light on the power nozzle and it would be a metal body, I've never owned a metal body Electrolux...One of my aunts had the 1205 in aqua growing up, that's the closest I've come to a metal body Lux... the hunt continues :)

which model

Which model was it where they started to get cheap with things and use a cheaper motor that would apparently fall apart while you were using it? Was that the Diamond J or a different model? I know for me, if someone was showing me a vacuum and that happened, there is no way I would buy it, even with a warranty. When you have something that bad happening, there is obviously a quality issue, which of course there was. Trying to cut costs definitely backfired for them.
