I dont know why but it seems like my electroluxes are using their powerful suction to suck me in to their self sealing wrappers from where I will never escape and I used to be a singer, regina, sunbeam, whirlpool person (I still am)but I guess I will be adding electrolux to the list, they are just starting to impress me because two days ago I got some modern genuine aerus type c bags and I threw out all the generic bags from my luxes and put these in them and I imedietely noticed a diference in the suction and I cleaned out my reginas shake out bag with my E and felt the suction and it had not droped! I think they just work better then alot of older canister vacs, what is your take on them?

Scott! I too like the older Luxes. The E, Automatic E, and G are probably some of the best Luxes ever made. The older Luxes, Compacts, and Filter Queens are the few older canisters that don't seem to lose suction very often. Later, Trg

you forgot to mention rexair/rainbows but one thing I have noticed about the d3/d4s that their seperators are less efficient than the earlier rexair/rainbow seperators. but none the less they dont lose suction either

I was surprised when folks started posting...

Suck-O-Meter stats that Electrolux seemed to fall short in that area. Somewhere around 55-60, when other machines were pulling 65 or more. I always thought using the hand over the inlet method, that Lux was about as strong as you could get. Perhaps I had it confused with air flow. The design of the tapered Lux hose and the tools seem to offer more in cleaning efficiency - or the fact that the inlet is just so large on the Lux - it pulled more of my hand into it.

All Electroluxes, even the newest of them, quickly lose suction as you are vacuuming. It's simple physics -- the paper bags are simply too small and, Electrolux's claims to the contrary, they do clog up very quickly.

I never let an Electrolux bag get more than a third full because once you cross that line, suction power drops to the point of being practically useless.

Obviously, it kinda pains me to say this since I do love me some Electrolux, but there it is.

I have always been a "Die-Hard" Electrolux fan--That's why I've got over 200 of them and keep adding more! I found a Lux 75th anniversary Guardian and a Silverado and 1205 at 2 Separate garage sales over the weekend. All have powernozzles and hoses. I think for all three I spent less than $60.00--$30.00 for the Guardian and $25.00 for the Silverado and 1205.
They all look to be in fairly good shape. . .
Like I've heard it said before, "Nothing sucks like an Electrolux". . .

So, I don't have to be ashamed about setting the Elux-o-

and tossing the bag after capturing a minimal dirt? Good! I especially don't like to prolong Elux bag use if I have recently detailed the motor and interior; I hate the thought of all that fine dust bunging up the coils, brushes, commutator, bearings, etc. Besides, when you purchase "C" bags in bulk, the price is a mere trifle(he says, slightly aloof, as he dashes his imaginary cigarette holder). Hahaha!

Seriously though, I just love buying those 100 packs of Elux bags; I don't have to feel guilty about turfing them on a whim, or modifying them to fit into my Royal Power team, either.

I keep the dial on my all my Automatic Electroluxes set at "2" and when the cover pops open, I toss the bag. I also have a pretty big stockpile of them.

I let the bags in mine get about 1/2 full because of the fine dust in my house and my Model E and Model L see some use when i rotate vacuums

first of all I dont think they lose suction very quickly and second I use my luxes set on 3 until the light goes of or it pops but my lx I just use until it pops but I do tend to check my e more often than others and I just make sure that I have an exhaust filter on my lx or e but I just want to know how do you buy aerus c bags in bulk?

my light never comes on with the Silverado, though I do notice a different hose "sound" after half full bag, then its changed, no need for strain or extra heat.

If the automatic control is not working properly (probably because the tubing is clogged up), it's the same as with non-automatic models -- there's no direct indication that performance is dropping because the bag is getting clogged, but when you get to know the sound of a particular model when running correctly, you can tell the bag is too full just by the way it sounds -- if you can't tell by the fact that it's not picking up stuff like it should!

I would have to gently differ with "singingrainbow" about Electroluxes not losing suction -- that's been a running criticism of Electrolux disposable bags for many years by, among other groups, Consumer Reports.

I remember a couple of ladies from when I was a little boy who always put in a fresh bag after every "major" use of their Electrolux. Partly because of the suction issue and partly because, as one lady put it, "I just cleaned up all that dirt, why would I want to store it in my house?!"

I remember an old lady who had an XXX with the cord winder. I thought it was so cool that when it was running and she was cleaning bare floors, the ONLY thing you could hear was the air rushing into the nozzle. The motor was so quiet that the powerful suction sound covered the sound of the motor!

You guys are talking about the 4 layer filter bags, right? I have a Diamond Jubilee that I love, but even with a fresh bag the suction is nothing compared to my new favorite vacuums, the Royal Powertanks. It still cleans well enough for most tasks, but when I want to vacuum really deep into the carpet or suck the chrome off of another vacuum, I use one of my Powertanks.

Granted, the DJ is a hell of a lot quieter than the Royals, and it is a great vacuum.

The Royal MicroFresh HEPA bags are great. I haven't noticed problems with decreasing suction with them. The J bags are just too small though. They're bigger than the bags for the newer canisters, but the PTs pull so much dirt out of the carpet that they fill up quickly.
