This cropped up very near me on ebay last week. Obviously I won, and the seller dropped it off at my house as it came from London,where he was during the week, and he passes my house to get home to Long Crendon!

A quick test releaved it was clogged to heck in the baseplate and the belt has snapped...

And then I took the brush strips out...

Quick clean up with the miele and I took the bumper off

Damn shame, dont suppose anyone has a brown bumper spare do they? Could swap it for a 1334 one!
I undid these screws next

Carbon everywhere! I then realised that the cables dont come off the motor (its been a while since I've had a 500 series!), so started at the top...

Sponge was in good condition

Took the bag full indicator off next

Motor wire pulled through, I could finally get the motor out

Mr Gooch then told me to man up and give the bag indicator knob a twist and out it came and apart it went!

I've just washed it this morning, and the filters came up like new, so no need to buy replacements then, which is good as their more expensive than I remember now on ebay, and Qualtex havent got any

And its all drying in the airing cupboard ready to go back together tomorrow night!

I soaked the brushroll bearings in LHM overnight, and whilst they spin smoothly now loads of black crap oozes out of them. Is there a way to strip them apart to clean and re-pack with grease?

Oh and the ratings plate fell off whilst washing so I'll glue it back on at the end!

Have had an interesting email from the seller an hour ago too, but more on that tomorrow...!
I have belts in the post too, which is nice, and found half a pack of genuine bags (and about 30 non genuine ones!) in the shed too, which is nice!
