Electrolux XI what happened?

This might be a long shot, but I'm going to take a guess that somebody replaced the cord...

*insert rimshot sound effect here*

But seriously, folks...

I would guess the prongs for the removable cord wore out, and the cord wouldn't stay plugged in so they went with hardwired

In picture 5 see that cap that is laying on the workbench.

The center of that is where the front bearing for the armature is and then in the rear of the motor housing is a hole in the center where the rear bearing for the armature goes. The center has a cap that unscrews (see the two little holes in that cap). You unscrew those two caps to grease the bearings. The model XI used the same bearing at both ends. The armature ran from the front cap all the way to the back of the motor housing and was suspended by those two bearings.

The motor you have in there is a replacement.

Points for creativity to whomever made that single stage Lamb fit into the XI's housing, but big negative points for originality >:O

I have to assume the original motor was beyond repair.

Love that cutaway diagram, Ray! To me it looks like two rotating fans with a stationary one between.

My XI has the male bayonet fitting intact, but no female cord fitting. Good luck trying to find one of those, huh?
