Hassocks and Hampers and Hairdryers, oh my...

My eyes are always scanning for a Lux Hassock in disguise when thrifting. It looks like its actually comfortable to sit on. I can imagine a few got recovered in more contemporary fabrics as the decades rolled by. Haven't found one yet, tho. That bullet-headed helmet hairdryer attachment I didn't even know existed!

The quieter and more powerful performance of the 80 series alongside E's and AE's right up through G's is Vacuum Cleaner Legend as anyone who has run one can confirm.

Now, as much as I cherish and revere Mom's green understated 89 I have to say that the red Elux-o-matic 88 with white bumper gets my vote for most visually stunning example of the Canadian 80 series vacuum ensembles. The colour is a sort of dark Ruby/Cranberry/Plum shade - perhaps we should call it Maple Leaf Red. Doug, what's the official colour designation?

And DANG IT, I don't have one yet. :-(

Thank you Charles and Doug for posting these beautiful pictures to dream on...

New Acquisition - E-2000 with storage (hassock) chest

Hello, Everyone. I was browsing and looking for information on the restoration for the hassock chest (leather storage chest) for the Electrolux machines. I recently acquired my latest vacuum to add to my collection: the Canadian-made E-2000 (manufactured between 1982-1984. (Our friends in the USA know this machine as the Model 2100, or the Diplomat).

E-2000 w. Hassock Storage Chest - Continued

This E-2000 vacuum came with the brown leatherette (or hassock) seat chest included. {I guess *hassock* is the proper designated name for this kind of chest? I've never heard the word until seeing it here in the forum}. So the hassock chest is in excellent condition. I've vacuumed it to clean out the interior, and carefully wiped down the exterior with a warm cotton wash cloth. Pics are attached for review. However, the bottom boxboard underneath is no longer attached to the chest (due to its age, of course). I was browsing in here hoping to find some brilliant ideas on how to repair it. I don't want to tear it off and throw it away (God forbid!). So what are some ways to repair this delicate underside without causing damage to chest itself?? Can it be re-glued?

If yes, what sort of glue is recommended?

New Acquisition - E-2000 with ...(Continued)

Sorry, guys, forgot to mention that my E-2000 didn't have the electric power nozzle with it. I got this vacuum relatively cheap, so I couldn't pass it up. I'm not going to complain about that since the power nozzle is still obtainable online. I will source a PN-2000 power nozzle and complete my ensemble.

I got the standard steel wand & plastic sheath with my E-2000, but it's not pictured. Upon closer inspection, the wand had a prong missing on the cord at the connector end that plugs into the pistol grip hose, so I think I'm going to need to also source a new cord for it and fix that myself.

Oh....the joys of collecting, right?!

Green Hassock Chest ---True Electrolux Hassock(?)

Hi All,

Is a hunter-green coloured one considered rare?
I recently picked it up off of Kijiji website and it's in fine condition.

Let me know if any of you have ever come across (or seen) this green hassock seat chest?

---Thank you very much, Chad (Toronto, ON, Canada)
