For the Record (as a reference) ... Have all the Electrolux USA serial ids been in the same format: 2 letters with 5 numbers in between?

Did the earlier models (XXII, XXIIA, XXX, XX, LX, and LXI) all have the serial ids stamped on the top of the front chrome trim?

I know the Model E's serial ids are on the front wheel mount. Is that where the Model T's and AE's are, too? Then, were the rest of the machines from the Model S through the Model G all on the chrome trim of the bag chamber?

I also read that the first version Model 1205s had them stamped on the bottom of the cord winder cover. Have the canisters since the second version Model 1205s all had them on the wheel stabilizers? Why do some have stickers?

Have all the uprights had their serial ids on stickers? I read that at least some of them had one visible and one under the handle.

Were all triple brush buffer/shampooers' on the manufacturer's label?

I will take for granted that the CA's and CBs were also on the manufacturer's label since I have seen some of the CB's. Please correct me if I'm wrong. How about the CB2000s and later commercials?

The

first stickers came out on 1205. The salesmen took the stickers off the cleaner and put it on the contract. At least it was done for a few years. Some sales people did it the way they always did and wrote the serial number down.

Oh, that makes sense, John. I couldn't understand why they'd put a sticker on top when the other was was hot stamped in the stabilizer. Thanks.

I can't believe that Electrolux service manuals or other paper work doesn't show a list similar to this one from Hoover which shows the models, years of manufacture, and serials:

By the way, do you know how Electrolux/Aerus serial designations are given? I know that the term 'serial' is related to 'series', so I get that the numbers reflect the order of production, but I don't get the letters. It's cool that they seem to have used the same formula since the 1930s--2 letters with 5 numbers in between.

'Model 1'

Would that not be a commercial Model 0? If so, why would it be stated the dates of manufacture as 1937-1939? A lovely HOOVER document, none the less!

Alex,

The model 1 referred to in this list is actually a Norca. Hoover built two models of the Norca. The first was the model 1,built from 1937 to 1939. It was almost identical to the Hoover 300 except for a different bag, Norca badge on the nozzle, motor cap was blue with an orange stripe instead of black with a green stripe, and the agitator did not have beater bars.
The model 80 Norca, built from 1939to 1942, was almost identical to the Hoover 305, except for a different bag, NORCA embossed on the hood instead of HOOVER, and the agitator did not have beater bars. The Norcas were sold at retail stores at even lower prices than the 300 and 305, which were Hoover's economy models at the time.
