I was just using my Electrolux Model L, the last iteration in honey gold, and was surprised when the bag door kept popping open (although the cleaner stayed on). I'd been using it a fair amount recently and had no issues with it before today. Anyway, even though I made sure it latched by wiggling it when it was off; as soon as I turned it on and began using it the door opened.
My initial thought was that the latch either had worn out or needed an adjustment. Then I decided to check the genuine Electrolux 4-ply filter bag. Even though it was only a bit over half full I replaced it and voila—the door stayed closed again while in use!
I have the 1978 users guide (a very concise fold-out, which is awesome for quick reference) but in scanning didn't find anything about such a feature in it or in any of my older, more thorough Model L manuals; plus I tried unsuccessfully to find a Vacuumland thread about it.
Is this a design feature or a fluke?
