Electrolux Upholstery Tool/Dusting Brush's initial designer

Does anyone know which version of the Electrolux combination upholstery tool/dusting brush was first--the U.S.'s or Europe's?

I've read that G.E. Lofgren designed the U.S. version, which was first manufactured in 1954 and used with the Model E. Europe also manufactured one that was similarly-styled, but I'm unsure when it was introduced & if it's still manufactured. The U.S.'s version is still being manufactured along with a modified one for the onboard caddy introduced in 1992 with the Epic 6000SR.

Names/nicknames for the movable parts I've read or heard are sides, wings, flaps, and butterfly.

From the Model E instruction manual:


 


....Hose in suction end, hose handle inserted through the brush of the smaller all-purpose tool, putting the smooth surface of the upholstery cleaner in position for use.


 


Note how the sides of the upholstery cleaner are hinged. They will fit curved surfaces of the furniture or flatten out for larger areas....

Nice to know I've actually been using it correctly, I noticed the wings will do that if you let them.

I'd forgotten that Lux International was AB Electrolux's vacuum cleaner division, so when the two companies parted in 1998 it seems that Lux took all its patents and designs; leaving Electrolux to design new ones of its own.

So, I checked Lux International's website and found a photo of its S115 vacuum cleaner with its attachments and accessories. It appears that the combo tool is the same.

Btw, I didn't find the Lux Intelligence on the site, so the S115 must be its successor. I suspect Aerus's next line-up will feature a similar model. It's been almost 5 years since the Lux Guardian Platinum was launched, so it's about time for a change.

Lux Platinum-Why change it if the design works-same as with Kirby-stick with something that works in the meantime-THEN replace it if the they find something that is REALLY better-LOVE my Lux Platinum along with my Kirby!BOTH are great vacuums!

I used to love playing with that brush when I was little, it was so soft. Still have it too.

That's a difficult question to answer. To my knowledge the dual action dusting brush first appeared with the model 62 in Europe (1958), with the model Z54 (1953) in Canada and with the model E (1954) in the US. So technically the first ones were in Canada, however, if I remember correctly they were made in the US for the Canadian Machines so the US version is the original.
