Electrolux Ultra One

Hi guys, Just acquired an Electrolux UltraOne with powerhead for $50!!! It is in immaculate condition, beautiful burn orange color. They decided to go for a Miele s4 (I saw the box in their garage).

It is so quiet, it needs to be 'not heard' to be appreciated lol. One thing I thought was interesting is RRP here for the TOL model is about $699 and in the states it is $899... sheesh why the jump?

Nice machine, I got a sample one when I was doing some consultant work for Electrolux, very nice machine, Much better made than the miele in my opinion

Frankly I think the Ultra One is a waste of money - certainly in the UK. I had one for a very short period - the suction only floor tool was next to useless and very poorly made. About the only good thing the Ultra One had going for it was the lack of noise and at the time I refused to pay top price for the highest model that had the power nozzle. Another bugbear I found early on was getting dust bags for it - still even now UK sellers who claim they have the bags in stock don't and have to be ordered in. Quieter than Miele in some respects, but then I found the Bosch BSGL5 series to be quieter than Miele but suffered from other issues.

Here the model with the pn is the same price as the normal model, bags are available everywhere the machine is sold and many other places , plus the bags are a fair amount cheaper than the miele's , here bosh is insanely  expensive and you cannot get the bags any were but bosh themselves and they are more expensive than any other bag I have come across, you can get 1 pack of 10 kirby bags for the price of 5 bosh bags to put it into a world wide perspective.

I know what you mean gsheen - the Bosch BSGL5 I had for a short period was really difficult to source the larger dust bags for it. Interestingly enough though for the same cost price of 4 bags by Miele, you get 7 or 8 bags from SEBO. They're not all the same, those Germans!

Miele bags...

...Oh god, you're all about to set me off on one now.

I love Miele cleaners. They're powerful, reliable, well built, high performing and efficient.

HOWEVER

I refuse POINT BLANK to pay £12.99 (which is around $20.00) for FOUR bags. Now, I have long hair, my housemate has long hair and I have a long haired cat, so the bags fill up in next to no time. I sold my Miele cylinder in favour of my Numatic Henry which is equally as well built, more basic and just as high performing AND with less wattage. The bags at £5.99 (which is around $9.00) for 10 HEPAFlo bags and they're 9 litres so last considerably longer than a Miele bag anyway.

The Sebo x1.1 is my daily driver (alongside Henry) and the bags are £8.95 (which is around $14.00) for 10. Even that is far more acceptable than paying £12.99 for four! Bloody daylight robbery.

Turbo500 - talking of daylight robbery! After a few good years one of my friends has suddenly seen the light and bought a new 2012 Henry from a Littlewoods catalogue. I told her to check the box very carefully as Numatic usually install a red fabric bag for the tools. Well she never got one! I was really surprised. She called Numatic who went onto say that she should have got a bag and they eventually and very kindly sent out a new bag free of charge. Meanwhile Littlewoods have been asked to check their entire stock as it seems the catalogue Henry machines may not have all the accessories AND said bag installed in the box!

BTW all those years ago when I bought my James, I cursed the brown/green Numatic dust bags - I always found them difficult to slide onto the black dust channel in Henry's belly. So much easier now with the HEPA FLO bags - and since you are in the UK and to everyone else in the UK, check John Lewis as they tend to stock old stock HEPA FLO bags that can often be discounted in price! They also do some replacement parts for the SEBO including the foam motor filter at reduced prices.
