Electrolux super j

Can anyone help me with a few questions about my super j? One, can the check bag light be changed? Can the variable speed switch be fixed and last what year were these sold, the price they were sold aand were these poupular or rare?

Electrolux Super-J Questions

Hi, Andy--Yes, the Bag Light can be changed, I have never had to change one. To access the Bag Light, open the lid on the machine by the suction end, remove the 4 phillips head screws around the outside part of the lid, and with a flat-head screwdriver gently pry the plastic cover off. The Bag light is inside the plastic part, and is connected to the circuit board with a couple of connectors. Follow the wires from the bag light to the place where they are connected onto, and if you have a machine that's no good or the motor is shot, I would say to just switch it out. I don't know of anyone who would have one that you could replace, although I can look around and see if I might have one, and if you'll give me your e-mail address I can touch base and let you know if I have one. I've got over 200 Electrolux Vacuums and I'll bet I can find one! By the Variable speed--Do you mean the Automatic Control Dial? Depending on what's wrong with it, It probably could be fixed. The Year models on the Super J's were from 1976-1978, I'm not certain as to what they sold for new, but I used to sell the Olympia models for Electrolux and they were close to $500.00. I'm guessing that Super-J's might have been in the $300-400.00 range--

Popularity of Electrolux Super-J

Hi again, Andy--Sorry I forgot to answer your last question regarding popularity of Super-J's. They are a pretty common machine, Electrolux did have some rare machines, among which are the Hospital G, the CA, and model 20, to name a few. There may be some other rare Electrolux's that I'm not aware of, but the Hospital G, and CA both are really rare. . .

The Super J does not have a speed switch. I think you are referring to the dial on the bag opening cover? If yes, then that is the dial which controls at what point the vacuum shuts off to indicate the bag should be changed. The dial is used to select the type of dirt that is being vacuumed.

I just got home from school and i want to tell you that i read this and got some baking powder and by spoonfulls filled the bag and it shuts off and opens up and the light turns on it is so neat thank you a millioin!!!!!!!!!

Dusting Brush

I have the original dusting brush for my Super J. It is so worn down on the front, it makes it difficult to use. Can you buy replacement bristles, or should I just try to find a new brush? Also, I just ordered a new vinyl hose for it from TotalVac.com. It was supposed to be beige, so I thought it would match. However, it is really just grey, and it doesn't match at all. What kind of hose would have been original?

I just love this cleaner. It is so powerful. I just wish I had it in original condition. Does anyone have pics of what one would have looked like originally before it was bojacked? Does anyone have one that has been restored?
