Electrolux Silverado Problem

I have an Electrolux Silverado Deluxe cleaner that has incredible suction, and runs smooth, however, when the power nozzle or sidekick is attached the power cuts in and out according to which way the hose is manipulated--a frustrating way to try and vacuum.

Does anyone know if this is repairable? It would seem wires buried in the hose would be tough to get at and I'm no electrician. Maybe it just needs a new power hose. Would anyone know where I could get a replacement that would be the same vintage as the machine? Thanks in advance for any help.

Silverado Hose

Stewart--This is Nathan, Electrolux-Dude. You more than likely will need to replace your hose. If the original electric hoses get crushed, the wires will break inside. An original cloth style hose is not available anymore but you can get replacement Electrolux hoses from HESCO. Their website is www.hescoinc.com. Or, you can research e-bay--you might be able to find one pretty reasonably.

Hoses

Check Ebay too, I have found a nice hose that comes in Grey and Cream that is a generic hose made to look like a genuine hose. It has a switch to turn the power nozzle on and off too. I have a near Mint Silverado Deluxe I bought about a year ago and it still had the fabric hose and I use there hoses to preserve the original one. Also the vinyl hoses are more user friendly and flexible which I find make vacuuming easier.

I second the eBay route. I did that and got a very high quality Lux hose with the switch in the handle for only a few clams. I refuse to use the real woven hose now because it's so much easier to use the vinyl one. Vacuuming is much more pleasant now!
