I don't....
think I have a Lux vac with an original, cloth type hose. But man, they made some beautiful cloth hoses for sure. However, they all were leaking dogs eventually. I started a thread about trying to use clear, commercial grade heat shrink to repair hoses. Sadly, I have not made the attempt yet.....and I fear it may make them too stiff for use.....just dunno yet. It's about $30 with shipping to get about an eight foot segment. It would be best if the ends came off, but I'm not exactly sure how that's done...especially if they are pressed on.
All of a sudden I'm poor with hoses...all vinyl...a few OE that are leaking and the rest OK. I know when we bought our Diamond J new, the saleslady made a big deal about how you store that hose. If someone had the space, straight out on a floor or shelf would seem ideal. The actual wire holder they sold for the job made a big loop of the hose. I guess I've always stored them off the machine in a big loop. I would guess that garages, barns and attics would be a terrible environ for them?
Come to think of it, I have an old cloth hose for a G down in the basement chasing spiders, underneath a restorable G. If the heat shrink worked, that would be very cool to put that hose back to work.
